I bought this on the last deal from Tyler Tool. After getting 2 smashed ones covered in oil, I returned it and bought something else. The original packaging from Makita was garbage and if it gets slammed on the end with the motor, you may end up the same. I have seen other shipments of this with double box packaging from Makita but these may not be. Just a warning. Also do not use their online contact if you have issues, call them.

This is a great compressor and a decent price. It goes on sale a bit lower. I bought it at $150.

It is very, very heavy. It is relatively quiet. It's standout features are the compressor CFM, HP, and duty cycle, which are both much higher that typical compressors of this size (pancakes, etc). I've been able to complete a renovation with just this little guy, including framing and finish carpentry.

Bought this from another company a month ago and had a similar issue. Mine wasn't bad enough to return, but there was some oil spilled in the box. I think it's just an issue with the packaging. The compressor works great though and this is a good deal although I did get it for around $160 which is the cheapest I have seen.

Strong enough for an impact wrench for to break an occasional stubborn lug nut? 3.3 cfm at 90psi seems like it.

Same here - very minor ding near the oil fill. The temp cap on the oil tank isn't liquid tight, so in shipping when the box gets put with that side down, the oil used during manufacture leaked out a little. The packaging should be better, but my compressor is working great, very quiet, and I'm happy with it. If I had to do it again I'd try to get a price match with in store pickup somewhere.

I am sure the oil was probably that, but the black plastic housing on each was also busted on mine due to being smashed in shipping. 100% was the packaging from Makita since I have seen them double boxed now for Makita. For me, it was not worth the hassle, I went out and bought a one of the newer quiet Makita oil-less compressors instead.
