What's wrong is the extra costs get passed back down to customers and/or return policy is changed so those customers that have legitimate issues with the product later can't return it.

This feels like it's $180 fairly frequently. Search SD for "Apple AirPods Pro". Still a good price.

Several for $190.
A few for $180.

I agree going with Costco for the additional warranty, if you have a membership.
