I haven't posted a deal in a while but this one seems pretty good. I've been looking for a nice circular saw.

This model is basically the original M18 Fuel 7-1/4" circular saw repackaged or reskinned without the Fuel branding so as to keep the NEW Gen 2 M18 Fuel 7-1/4" model as the top dog since it offers much improved performance over the original M18 Fuel Model. There's really no difference between this model over the original it has all the same features including the rafter hook and brushless motor same RPM and body ripped right off the original M18 Fuel model.
Yeah, reading that article and your thoughts, I would be inclined to agree this is probably equivalent to their gen 1 Fuel saw, which is still quite a badass saw. I bought it with a 9.0ah combo almost 4 years ago for $250.

I would say this is a decent deal, the 5.0 battery doesn't have the issues that the 9.0 did (notice they only sell an 8 and 12ah now, not the 9).

Fuel is the current top of the line. It's generally more powerful.

Good saw. True it's not the Fuel but its a heck of a lot better than the 6 1/2" non Fuel saw you often see deals on. I don't have any complaints with mine.

Anybody know if the battery comes separate where you can keep the battery but return the saw? You can do that for some other M18 combos but I can't tell if you can with this set.
Not sure on this one but in my experience if it's just tool and battery without charger then they are separate. I ordered a few different tool and battery and tool and starter kit deals from the M12 line late last year and reordered them when the price dropped. They were all packaged separately and some even shipped separately. I took the first batch back to HD and they refunded the tools no problem but couldn't figure out how to do the batteries since they didn't show up as separate items on my order. She even called the manager for help but he eventually told me they couldn't take them back. I still got the full refund and now have a few extra 6 amp batteries and a couple bag/charger/4 amp battery starter kits lol.

Damn. I just turned in a 9.0ah battery for warranty. Wouldn't charge. I didn't realize the 9.0ah's had a lot of issues..

I tried, but mine is a few months out of warranty so now I have a paperweight - I have a friend who just had his warrantied too. They are the only M18 battery I've ever had an issue with and I have others that are almost twice as old that haven't died yet. If you do some searching it seems to be fairly common.

I may try opening it up to see if I can charge whichever banks are low voltage up to the same level as the others and get it back into business. Not sure if it is worth the effort though.
