Thanks for heads up! GOG is the best site for buying games. You can get all of the benefits of cloud storage and updating etc like on Steam by using their Galaxy system but you have the option to just install the game on any number of computers and just play them without needing any internet or even loading a system like Steam to play offline. Support is amazing even in a Covid era
Apparently I already have this in my GOG library (I'm a free digital game hoarder guys, its getting bad). If someone has any use for the code I got, enjoy: A653A-6E937-EE4C3-A2D63
It is definitely a bit clunkier, but the story is still solid and I think it's worth a play through.

11 Hours Left to Claim

Your name is Geralt of Rivia and you are a witcher, that means you kill monsters for a living. You were given special training to be the best at what you do and your body has been enhanced with potent elixirs to help you do it.

Suffering from amnesia you remember nothing of your past. Kaer Morhen, the last remaining keep of the witchers, was attacked by a mysterious organization, just as you were starting to lick your wounds there. The battle is won but the secret recipe for the mutagen, a substance required to create more of your kind, has been stolen. The surviving witchers set out to find and reclaim it and punish everyone involved. Memory loss or not, you are one of them.

Set in a dark fantasy world with a unique medieval, yet somewhat modern, feel to it, The Witcher isn't just another fantasy RPG. With a deep story, complex characters, and tough choices that actually matter, this game will keep you glued to your monitor for days.

Definitely clunkier, but the controls can actually be pretty good if you use autohotkey to remap some stuff. You can damn near play it like a first person RPG when you remap the camera to right click and stay in close going out to 3rd person whenever you feel like it. I personally like the mixture of point and click and 3rd person elements you can do at the same time. The rhythmic pause and slash fighting is fun once you figure it out. If they had added a bit more nuance jumping from enemy to enemy it would have been very very good indeed. IMHO.

Oh I agree. I loved the game. I just like to warn people especially if they started with 2 and 3 since the combat is a lot more fluid right out of the box on those two, and especially 3.

i played them in 2-3-1 order, only because there were lots of allusions in 2&3 that i thought would make sense if i played 1.

you won't be missing anything if you don't play 1.

I haven't played any yet, but want to after watching the TV show- should I start with newest one? Or 2?
