Sam's Club has black peppercorns @ $7.98 for 19.5 oz. which comes out slightly cheaper than this deal. I'm halfway through a container of them and have no complaints with their quality.

Average diameter is ~4.2 mm (from a sample size of 3 😋) in spite of not being labeled Tellicherry, and they're supplied by Tone's which was the top-rated brand in the Cook's Illustrated article linked earlier. Just another option to consider.

TU and in for 1. Good price for a pound. Being Amazon's house brand, it's probably turned over regularly. Fresh ground pepper is awesome.

TIL that Tellicherry just means grown somewhere in India and bigger than 4mm, so most peppercorns sold in the US are Tellicherry, even if they're not labeled as such. I just measured my grocery store ones for hits and giggles: 4.10mm.

Thanks for this. The price-per-gram mirrors what I can get at a local 'international' market, but this stuff seems like it may be a bit higher quality.

Seems like a good deal. I bought a different deal for peppercorns 2/2019 for $9.95, but now the current price is $8.95. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

OPs deal is cheaper, though 1000 less ratings. Don't know how to determine which is better quality.

Costco's 14 ounce container usually comes out to 55.2c/oz. This is cheaper, at 42.5c/oz. Thanks OP.

Tellicherry peppercorns are like San Marzano tomatoes: they need to come from Tellicherry, a city on the Malabar coast of Kerala in India. They're considered some of the finest peppercorns in the world, and one of the few "names" in pepper that people are familiar

Costco doesn't carry Tellicherry pepper anymore, unfortunately.

Roger that. I think their stuff is all from Vietnam these days.
