How's the battery life? Heard the Gen 4/5 had relatively poor battery life.
Wear 4100/4100+ watches are coming. 28nm -> 14nm, bluetooth 5.0 most likely in a few month as they were announced a few months ago.
Great deal for those looking for a budget wear OS watch and don't mind charging it every night, all wear OS battery life sucks tbh due to the 2100/3100 using 28nm vs say apple's 7nm and samsung's 10nm.
Very similar specs as the Misfit Vapor X that went on sale a few days ago according to this[androidauthority.com]. Don't Fossil watches have better software though, like the battery saver modes?

Explorist vs Sport? Curious if it's worth the extra $30.

The Snapdragon 4100 is just a rebrand of the Snapdragon 429, a low end phone chip from more than two years ago. While it should hopefully offer more performance compared to current Wear OS devices, I wouldn't expect any miracles when it comes to battery life improvements.
The biggest improvement in usability seems to be going from 512mb to 1gb or more of RAM. Unfortunately this watch (along with the Misfit Vapor X that was just on sale) is one of the few Snapdragon 3100 devices stuck on 512mb.
That said, Wear OS devices work fine if don't overload them with apps etc. I still use a Fossil Gen 2 derivative every day, and have no complaints about speed/responsiveness. If you're new to Wear OS, be sure to give at least a week before making judgements about battery life, as it will seem terrible for the first few days before settling in.
This watch is also available at watchstation.com (same store as fossil.com, but they sell all of the associated fossil brands) for the same price, and you can sign up for their newsletter to get an immediate 25% off coupon, making it $37. Not as good as the Misfit sale from last week, but not too bad.

I brought that Misfit Vapor in that sale. Using for last 2 days. I'm 99.99% sure both watches are identical, just 2 different brand. Infact Misfit is Fossil company.
So far all good with Vapor. I agree that battery life is 1 day only, but it does what I want it to do. Worth that $40 i spent on MisFit. For reference, I had LG / Moto / Fossil smartwatches over last 5 years.

I bought this a while back when it went on sale for $60-something. Used it for a month, hated it, sold it. It's laggy and battery is atrocious. Junk product.

I agree. The better performing Wear watches have atleast 1GB of RAM. If most of these watches started with 1 to 2GBs of RAM and a snapdragon 3100 or higher processor, Android Wear watches are worth it. Otherwise, you're dealing with standard Wear OS sluggishness.
This one at $50 is an on the fence purchase. However, I don't think any Wear OS watch is worth it over $150. The Misfit deal (regardless of the model) earlier in the week ,is a better deal.

Have you already tried some methods to remove the bloat? Saw it on Reddit, but I don't get my watch for another day.
I bought 4 of them & 2 of them were completely faulty. One was returned within 90 days so was safe, another one started giving trouble after 90 days & I am out of return period. It's completely 3rd class watch to be honest

It's $99 on watch station.com and only a few bright colors to choose from.
Been wanting one... good timing.
I life fossil watches and now that they sent me a $25 coupon for signing up to their emails,
and refurbished Gen 4 with 2 year warranty at $79.... get s a good deal on a starter smart watch for $54. I see that you can also return it within 90 days to their stores or Macy's store.
I just want it for the basic notifications and the health tracking... nothing more....
