Seems the Vertuos are always going on sale. Been waiting on a good deal or discount for the original.

Good price on the machine. Sadly, there are almost no aftermarket pods available for this other than the fill-your-own variety.

I like the coffee it makes, but the per-cup price is a non-starter. The pods range from $1 to $2 *each*, they're just not worth the cost.

I can't drink non-vertuo coffee anymore. The stuff is expensive but amazing.

Have you tried a method to moka pot/Bialetti? I love it. Cheap hardware and uses regular coffee, no pods.

If interested, consider the Nespresso Next with Aeroccino3 frother at Bed Bath and Beyond for $115 plus tax after applying a 20% off coupon.

Almost bit on one of the classic nespresso machines but ended up getting the aeropress. This thing is definitely way cheaper to buy, operate and really easy to clean. The coffee has a much better aroma when the beans are freshly grounded and you also get a much bigger variety of coffee beans to choose from. You don't really need a burr grinder as it works perfectly fine with blade ground coffee beans from a $10 grinder.

VertuoPlus with Aeroccino3 usually goes on sale for $100 or $110. Delonghi model (flat top) produces better foam per my personal testing (own both).

Vertuo also was our first purchase from capsule coffee product lines. The taste, the quality and the diversity of flavors and also richness of flavor on those larger pods is quite impressive. I don't use it myself, my SO does almost every other day. I still just use watered down, brewed coffee (via french press), but my SO loves this product. I bought the machine via this year's SD sale @ Macy's I think

I would like to echo this statement. While I have thoroughly enjoyed my virtuo line machine, one should know before buying these are a different style "pod" than the classic line. These pods are proprietary and use a barcode on the pod. The machine reads the code which tells it the size and makes the pod appropriately. Nespresso has not licensed this out (eg: like k-cups) so there are not really any 3rd party options. As such, the pods directly from Nespresso are 3-4x more expensive than what you might find k-cups for. The coffee is really good though and there are many flavors. Highly recommend if you are ok with the price.

TL;DR - Cheap hardware, expensive pods like inkjet printers. But this works for in a pinch quick cup of good coffee.

I have an espresso machine (Breville 870XL) that I've used for past 6 years. I picked this up during Bloomingdales sale (Machine + Arecoccino 3 for $100) and Amex Offer for I think $20 off $100 just to check it out.

I've purchased over $400 worth of pods but I'll tell you, in a pinch this thing works. It's always consistent and just works. I still use my espresso machine regularly, but when I'm in a rush, I just go to this. 3 minutes and it's done. No cleanup, except rinsing the Areoccino.

Love the convenience of Nespresso. If you tried it, you will never go back to K-cups.
