On low mode, the standard roller is okay at pickup up hair and larger debris on the carpet. On high, you end up with pretty short runtime, and the roller isn't as powerful as my corded Dyson ball. If you have lots of carpet that you want to clean thoroughly, I cannot recommend using the V7 as primary vac.
Been the same price on eBay thru dyson

Great deal on a Dyson cordless with HEPA added. If you need the soft roller for flooring though, it can be pretty pricey (around $100). I wish I had jumped on the V8 absolute for $250 at the end of last year. This is still a great vacuum for quick pickup. I have a small place with a few area rugs only. When I need to deep clean the rugs, however I bust out the corded vac for way more power and ability to "comb" the fibers.
Would this be good for carpet ? I have an old eureka just gave up on me.
