Do your research on grain free foods. I have an 11 and 12 year old dog that were on core for 10 years, we switched when they both developed serious health issues that my vet said may be related to grain free foods. Grain free foods are attributed with being higher quality and to contain less fillers but there is some research that shows they may be detrimental to your dogs long term health.

Wellness is a well-respected brand and I've purchased their foods in the past. However, none of my three dogs will eat this Core line (correction, they will pick out the bigger freeze-dried bits and spit out any kibble). I'm not sure what they don't like about this food (ingredients list seems pretty excellent), but others I've spoken to have had the same results. Maybe the kibble is too big or too hard?

I donated the other two bags of it I bought to my local shelter; hopefully some pups there wont be so damn picky.

Regular wellness core (like this) doesn't have any freeze-dried bits. I believe you are referring to core RawRev.

Pea protein, peas, and chickpeas being the 3rd/4th/5th ingredient kinda worries me. Makes me wonder how much of the protein isn't actually animal protein.

My vet very much recommended against grain free. Also, if you follow the dog food posts that are on here, 90% of them are for grain free - that has to say something that only the grain free are getting the bigger deals.

Also, my vet was against raw food as well. I know every vet is diff, but she made a good point that it just runs an additional risk of getting your dog sick for what benefit?

I am looking for a grain included dog food on sale if anyone has found anything

Iams is not something you would want to feed your dog.

Why is that? Because of the by-products that are actually full of nutrients and good for dogs?
