This thing is the bomb, just don't let it explode...

But serious, I have the 1HP and it is really quiet. I had screw drive system previously and it was loud. This one has WiFi connectivity and is at a great price. Get it, you won't regret it.

Does it have the motion sensing light switch feature? Trying to compare this with Chamberlain B970. Any suggestions?

Also wondering if this unit is reliable. And anyone know what would be a reasonable price to pay to have someone install this in Los Angeles?

Do you know if you can access it via the local ip address? Or does it have to be over the cloud/app?

Also, do you know if the wall switch is one those newer ones that supposedly are secure? Trying to figure out if my existing z-wave control will work.

Finally, on the outside keypad, can you close the door without have to enter your password?

This unit works very well. Never try local ip, why do you need? It is a door opener. Alladin always work and never fails. Alexa can also open and close tbe garage. (Need setup a 4 digits code for security). Wall switch is a regular switch with three buttons (garage open, light switch and a lock button). Outside keyoad need a code to do any operations.

Bought this for 190 just over a month ago.. It's extremely quiet and pretty easy to install (just time consuming). The keypad outside makes you input the code to close the door, the lights inside are sensor based and indoor keypad was a breeze to swap with my old one and wires. The two clickers are the only thing that bothers me. They look like they have multiple buttons on them and I end up pressing the wrong one quite often unless I look up and click it (the others don't do anything I don't believe) and each comes with a visor clip. The battery backup will be nice during the never ending hurricane season with 50 opens and closing. The Aladdin connect was a breeze to setup and add multiple people. You can even ask Google Home or Alexa to open the door after confirming your pin. Definitely worth it at 190 and a no brainer at this price (wish I would have waited now!).

I have the same model but without wifi. Been working perfect for 2 years.TThey were on cleareance at Lowes for $100. Very quiet. The battery backup is very sloooow when opening but it works. I bought he 3/4 hp model and am going to use it as my driveway gate opener using the battery backup and small solar panel. More reliable then Mity Mule, excellent warranty and 1/4 the cost.

The battery operation is very slow but super useful. We used it a few times when the power is off.

Thanks for the info. I prefer local IP so that if Genie ever decides to charge for cloud service, I can still use it. Or if they decide to completely kill off the service (even Google has done stuff like that).

Battery Backup is mandatory in California. GD openers without BB will not ship to Ca.

100% agree, all manufactures should include local ip connectivity, BS having to access their network to get access to a locally installed system. Only advantage of remotes hosted is less complex setup.
