Backhaul has 2 methods you can do 1) Via hardwire ethernet cable 2) Wireless with a dedicated channel to communicate between the 2 or 3 satellites. It's basically a fancy way of saying "connection between"

Some mesh networks allow for ethernet connection to the satellites. This one is one of them that has ethernet connections in the base of the units. Ethernet will usually get you the best results. Some newer homes have ethernet wired around the whole house. So the main router gets hooked up to that junction. Then you place the 2nd satellite next to an ethernet port say in the master bedroom and that satellite will get it's internet connection from that port. It's faster and more reliable. 3rd will get hooked to another ethernet port say in the 2nd story game room. That is the ideal solution to bathe the whole house with wifi.

Wireless backhaul is for people who don't have a house wired for whole house ethernet or that don't want to run an ethernet cable across multiple floors or across the other end of the house. That's where this comes in handy. It will send the wireless internet signal from one unit to the next unit and to the third unit. So you can basically cover the whole house in wifi. When you send the signal wirelessly, either you have a 2 channel or 3 channel system in most mesh systems. This model has 3 channels. A 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, and a 2nd 5Ghz that is exclusive used to communicate between the 3 units. That is the best wireless backhaul to have, a 3 channel one. A 2 channel only has the 2.4 and the 5Ghz. So the 5Ghz has to send from satellite to satellite, but also your wifi internet to your iphone, laptop, appletv, etc. So having a 2 channel mesh network, it's more congested on the 5Ghz channel and so you get slower communication performance from satellite to satellite. For some people who don't need all that much speed, but more coverage, a 2 channel mesh system will be just fine for them. I however, rely on the wireless backhaul, so I will only buy a 3 channel mesh system. These are the channels for this system and it's max speed.

2.4GHz (600Mbps†) + 5GHz (1200Mbps†) for WiFi devices to connect to the Internet
5GHz (2400Mbps†) dedicated WiFi link for faster data connections between Orbi Router and Orbi Satellite
The TP Link X60 is dual band, whereas the Netgear Orbi is Tri-Band. Tri-Band is always better because they use 1 of the Tri-Bands (usually a 2nd 5Ghz) to link each of the mesh routers to each other. Leaving the other 2 for you to use as wireless. When you have dual band, you use the 5Ghz usually to link the satellites together. So on a dual band, you are both using the 5Gz to use as WiFi and linking the router to satellites. It usually slows down the WiFi and has more congestion on that traffic. However, if you have a house with ethernet ports all over the house, you can plug the TP Link X60 satellites in an ethernet port around the house and the 'backhaul" makes the TP Link X60 a much better system than just on a wireless mesh system.
I have the same RBK50 over 3 stories of my house and it has been rock solid. Running the speed test on WiFi has only ever gotten me to 450 Mbps max. On wired ethernet, I can get 915 Mbps and I have gig fiber like you. According to Dong Knows Tech, he does a comparison of all the WiFi 6 Mesh Systems and this ranks 3rd. Looking at WiFi speeds at 40 feet, he was getting between 700-800 Mbps speeds. That would be almost double wireless speeds. I have an Iphone 11 Pro Max that has the WiFi 6 antenna, so I should hit 700-800 speeds if I upgrade. Costco has a good return policy so you can always return it if it does't get faster speeds on WiFi.

https://dongknows.com/best-wi-fi-6-mesh-systems/ . You can scroll down to the lower half of the review to see the comparison charts on WiFi speeds.

Edit* I was posting speeds on the higher Netgear AX600 vs this actual one at Costco one here, the Netgear AX4200.

Worth upgrading to this from RBK50? Coverage has been fine with the RBK50 I've had for around three years now. Wondering if this would deliver better speeds with my Xfinity 1Gig service compared to the RBK50. Would appreciate any input, TIA!

i plan on putting some arlo wireless camera on the yard post about 30-40ft from the edge of the house. not sure if my current single router can handle that distance. will this mesh be able to handle that. i notice my ring had issue with one of the light wifi signal on opposite corner of the house but luckily that product comes with a repeater/booster. but i don't think arlo has anything for that.

Thanks for the quick info, will think about it to jump on this or wait for the 853 version to come down in price. Also, wonder if the 853 also supports backhaul wired...

You may not gain much speed benefit from RBK50 as this RBK753 is only one step up. RBK853 would offer better speed advantage for your 1G service.

Why would anyone buy the RBk 853 ax6000 at $1000 when this one is $560 less?

Most people on reviews have reported gain, significant at times. Hope this helps

Hey guys, OP here. I have the google mesh setup from a few days ago. Would I be better off with this in terms of throughput? I am getting close to 30/30 in my office on the second floor with wifi puck next to my computer. It's adequate, but I want a little more to account for congestion.

Having said that I DO not want to shoot myself in the foot by buying an inferior product in the form of Netgear. Can anyone with experience with both chime in? I love the wired backhaul and alexa/google integration.

I need to upgrade from a standard old wireless router to get better whole house coverage and maybe jump to our shop. I missed out on the rbk53 deal earlier in the year. Is this worth the $150 extra over the rbk 50/53?

I do use rbk50 router for the last 3 years without any issues. Some reviews mentioned about bad firmware updates but fortunately nothing bad experienced so far. Before this router I tried google nest mesh router and no way it can compete with orbi in my observation. I do have more than 40 wifi devices and it works flawless so far. Due to recent rains, power fluctuations, my router started giving some issues. I bought this one to replace the old one. Issues that I noticed are no vpn support and there is mo way we can allocate devices to 2.4 or 5 ghz.

Before this deal, i want to try eero pro 3 pack and waiting for good deal.

This router is wifi6 and reviews mentioned that better wifi speeds and range than earlier models. If that is not accurate, I return back to great costcoPeace

Does this offer ability to separate SSID names for 2.4 from 5ghz for older devices that don't know how to properly connect to the band?

Can you expand more satellites with wired also?
