Thanks OP. Been tracking this one. Amazon also lowered the price to $99.

How does this compare to the xdt15zb (sub compact)?

I have both and strongly prefer the XDT15 for various reasons. The two-speed (high/low) variable speed is invaluable, especially if you're driving more than a handful of screws (e.g. building a deck). It's more compact than the XDT13 and weighs considerably less (0.7 lb is a huge difference in a handheld tool this size). The only nominal advantage of the XDT13 is that it has more torque, but in a subcompact 1/4" impact driver, there's no practical difference between 1240 and 1500 in-lbs. The XDT13 is back in its original box and has only been used a couple times; I scavenged the battery, charger and bag from the kit but don't bother hauling the tool around.

I'm no expert but it seems torque is higher on this one. It seems the trade off is that the one you quoted seems smaller, lighter and has variable speeds.

Beware, as the description in the HD site differs from whats on the Makita site.

@OP: Add XDT131 model name in the title and post as it will be helpful.

Home Depot delivers quicker than even Amazon with Prime. Shouldn't we be asking for refunds on Prime as Amazon stock has literally skyrocketed & yet they don't offer 2-day because of this pandemic?

Umm ... what? Unless you pick it up at the store, HD is way slower than Amazon Prime. Just checked both and Amazon guarantees delivery on Saturday; HD says I'd get it by next Tuesday. May vary according to your location, but all of my Prime purchases have been back to pre-COVID delivery times.

Amazon shows delivery by next Tuesday with Prime & HD by next Monday for me. You might just be really close to their warehouse.

The xdt15 is straight up one of the best tools I've ever used. The minor difference in torque is pointless (it's an impact driver not an impact wrench).

I'm sure this one is also a great tool. But Makita's subcompact impact drill and driver are simply on another level from anything else.

This is their entry level impact, that being said it's brushless and a Makita, unless driving hundreds of deck/cortex screws non-stop every hour you'll have no problems.

This $99.99 is the standard holiday/deal price for this. Home Depot clearanced off these sets for the impact and driver (each sold separately but paird with a 3.0ah battery) for $79.99 after the holidays.

If you want just the impact they don't hold a lot of value on eBay because they are the basic impact included in all the starter kits. Should be able to snag one for about $60

I completely agree. I only got into the Makita LXT line when I was building my back deck alongside a real carpenter. Borrowed his XDT15 when the battery on my own crappy driver died and it was like an epiphany. I ordered one of my own that same night and have gone slightly nuts with other LXT tools since. The weight, balance and overall feel in my hand is absolutely perfect and I use it every chance I get. It's my most-used tool by a long shot.
