So freaking tempting, but what to use it for?
Back in the day this would be awesome for a CS LAN party.
Most of the bad reviews are for their customer service. And if you ever had a netgear product, you would agree. Their CS is utter sh..t.

But as for hardware, it's a good product for basic needs.
Not a chance.

Over 7000 reviews and 86% five stars (and I'm confident Netgear doesn't have to buy reviews unlike some popup brands)
Considering people tend to write bad reviews when they are angered, while people who are pleased seldom write reviews, I would say it's pretty good.
And it's a such basic switch that there isn't anything advanced to worry about.

I have this switch. Took an indirect lightning hit and only lost one port.

95% 4 and 5 stars and most of the 1 and 2 stars are probably different products, but Amazon will continue to lump everything under 1 roof to make it nearly impossible to evaluate a specific product -- even the Verified Purchase it's easy to see many of the reviews are for different models..
Sounds like a star player to me if less than 5% of the posters had an issue with a computer product. Esp since 90% of the bad reviews tend to be user error or abuse -- "lightning hit my house and fried it. Netgear wouldn't replace it free after only 3 years. The suck 1 star" The add the TP Link and Dlink internet reps doing their 'review'

For a few extra bucks you can get a similar TP Link with lifetime warranty. Not sure how easy a claim might be, though. TP-Link 16 Port Gigabit Ethernet Network Switch | Desktop/ Wall-Mount | Lifetime Protection | Fanless | Sturdy Metal w/ Shielded Ports | Traffic Optimization | Unmanaged (TL-SG116) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GR9S...rFbD3CBYPZ
