So there's this LG and here are the pros:
It's an IPS panel
It's got a better vertical resolution
It's got a faster refresh rate
Immersive lighting nonsense on the back is just the kind of neat-o gimmick that appeals to chumps like me
I can buy it at Costco
Then there's the AOC 49 [amazon.com] from Amazon and here are the pros:
It's 10.5 frickin inches wider (which I have the desk space for)
It's significantly cheaper ($400 cheaper)
It has USB-c power output (which with my WFH setup, is honestly an awesome feature for me)
Aesthetically, I think the included stand looks a lot better
Alright slickdealers, do you thing: fight, tell me why I'm dumb, overload me with more options that I haven't yet considered.

IMO, 49" or 2x27"(currently running DELL 4Ks) is too wide. 34"(DELL setup in my other office) is just a tad too small.
I may still pull the trigger on this....

1. refresh rate . This drives a huge premium
2 . IPS vs VA . I will let you research what the differences are.
3. Other "stuff " HDR 600 vs HDR 400, total lag, etc.
Realistically though it is the refresh and panel type that drives the price way up regardless of resolution, size , features etc. Thats why you see large size TVs with HD1000 cheaper than this monitor and people commenting "derp i can get 2 TVs for the price" and sure u can but u aint getting that refresh rate or the IPS tech so judge for yourself if those are things worth your money..
There is a huge difference in warranty - the Acer has a 3 year, this way more expensive LG only has 1.
I'm not super comforted by such a weak warranty when previous enthusiast level screens also sported 3 year warranties (the Alienware for example also has 3 years).

I'll answer your question. I have both. I originally had the AOC as my main monitor from Jan to July. Just got the LG 38" to replace it as my main, and the AOC moved to secondary up top.
The AOC definitely had screen size in it's favor, but it still wasn't G-sync compatible, therefore no VRR and all the smoothness that comes with G-sync. Also, the number of pixels at that resolution of 5120x1440 is about 7.5m. At 3840x1600, it's 6.1m. Easier to get higher framerates on the LG.
For some reason, the AOC doesn't report itself correctly to Win10, so it's "native" resolution (according to Win10) would be at 3440x1080, instead of the correct 5120x1440 (which was selectable at 120Hz). Doesn't affect anything except seeing that in the control panel.
The crosshair on the AOC (for mine at least) wasn't centered correctly. It is off by about 3 pixels to the right, which pretty much makes it useless. The AOC remote is kind of useful.
The HDR is useless on the AOC. It also has a weird deep sleep bug where it sometimes won't turn on correctly, and I have it completely off and then back on for the screen to come back up (note that this problem only started occurring once I've switched it to a secondary monitor).
The LG is G-sync compatible and Nvidia certified. I'm getting consistent 139 fps at 1600p (w/ a 2080ti). Reports as G-sync in NVCP. Contrast is excellent. The extra height is definitely noticeable and benificial in games (especially competitive FPS).
If you aren't gaming, then all of the above is irrelevant, and you should just get the AOC 49". However, if you aren't gaming, you really shouldn't be looking at this category of (gaming) monitors anyway, you'd be better served by finding 4k business monitors, which would be cheaper.
I paid $1499 at Best Buy after price matching to Micro Center three weeks ago. Worth it for 10% in rewards, and also picked up their 4 year warranty for $130 bucks. The Best Buy accident warranty is pretty decent, since they will either just replace the screen or refund your purchase amount if they can't replace for whatever reason. (oops! my dog hit my monitor off my desk!) Not that I'm condoning that.....
the LG OLED can reportedly do 4k @ 120 Hz, but there isn't a video card available to push that right now (upcoming Nvidia 3090?).
Sitting in front of a 49" OLED at approximately 24-36 inches away (standard desk width to seat) is overwhelming, at least for me. Too much looking around screen to catch stuff in corners.
Image retention on OLED is still real. I still can't trust that the windows start button logo won't burn into the OLED after a year. I don't want to have to run pixel scrubbers or have to worry about turning off my monitor to prevent image retention. OLED tech for PC monitors is almost there, but not quite in my book.
Using the 49" as a secondary and sitting much further back to play games/watch movies on from your PC? Sure. Definitely. Sitting that close using a mouse and keyboard? No thanks.
See my post above detailing using the AOC 49" and the LG 38". The 38" hits a sweet spot for size and distance from screen for me.
