I compared it extensively to the 13gal Simplehuman Step-on Rectangular SS Trash Can (Wirecutter winner cousin), and will keep the Kohler. The price difference is somewhat minimal since I got a deal on the SH, and was not expecting Kohler to be on sale (thanks OP!).

Detail notes about SH vs Kohler:
1. Made in Taiwan (Kohler is China).
2. Better construction with rivet and thicker gauge tension rods holding lid (Kohler uses screws and thinner rods).
3. Liner park, so no need to lift out the liner to change bag, winner SH.
4. Less flex all around except top as compared to Kohler.
5. The top is the letdown on SH, with sizable gap toward front lip that you can see through the back (meaning trash smell leakage).
6. The lid lock needs an additional step of pushing the lid further back to engage the lock on SH. Kohler just works without fuss.
7. SH has a larger mouth for liner, so standard 13gal will be a tight squeeze, thus the custom pricey Q bag. Kohler is just the right size for standard bag.
8. 10yr warranty on both.

Hope it helps!

FYI. This seems to be a different model as compared to the one on Amazon. The model number here is RC20958-ST and you have to take out the bin to put on a new garbage bag. Whereas there is a detachable lid on the Amazon one. So they cut down their costs and lowered the price.

Anyone wanting a deal on SH in SF east bay, lmk before returning to store. Unused and bench tested only.

Hope it helps!
I'm in the South Bay, how good a deal are we talking?

The price is remaining the same in store after the coupon goes live? Seems like a pretty big difference to the online price

To be certain, I would go buy it right now and price match it starting tomorrow..

So if they raise the price tomorrow and apply the coupon, so the total cost is higher at $84.99, they will still let you apply the coupon on the previous purchase price as a price match to reduce from your 69.99 price to 54.99? I've never done the price match at Costco before so I'm curious as to how that works.

That's a good point! Maybe, they won't.. but, I don't think they will actually change the price of the product in-store.. if they do, then, I'll let you know if my price match doesn't go through..

Online prices are sometimes a little higher than in-store plus includes shipping hence the $30 difference. Definitely a good deal if you live near a warehouse, not so much if buying online.
