Various e-book retailers have the once lesser known Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency available for $1.99.

I've never watched to series, so I can't say how closely the show followed the book, but I personally consider the book to be well worth a read or two.

Love the book, and the sequel. The 2016 TV adaptation did not follow the books very closely. However, I really enjoyed watching both seasons of the show and it had some good cast performances from Fiona Dourif and others.
The world clearly needs some Douglas Adams now.
I loved the series. Too bad it never got a season 3. :-\

It didn't follow the books at all. Different characters (except Dirk), different crimes, different locations, different era.

Is this book enjoyable if you write -ize instead of -ise?

That's why the cover seems weird to me.
I like the show though. Season 1, really good. Season 2 was ok.
The book was good

I really tried to read the frist, and made myself sit down to finish it. The sequel "The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul" I couldn't get past the first few chapters.

I am more of "A Fire In the Deep by Vernor Vinge, or "Startide Rising" by David Brin". This may be great for it's subtype, but I am a hard SF and Universe Building type.

Haha, just told a coworker yesterday "so long and thanks for all the fish" (much to his confusion) and out pops a Douglas Adam's deal.

Own both this and the sequal already. Great books if you can suspend disbelief.
