Battery life is terrible on gaming laptops.
This is a great deal IMO. Probably one of the cheapest RTX 2060 Laptop having all-around configuration, not sacrificing areas like Display Quality, thermals and SSD and Ram capacity.

As per various reviews of the 2020 Nitro model, this has been improved all around and Thermals are pretty good. i7-9750H is also a pretty good choice for reducing the price while not sacrificing the performance as it is just a mere 7% at max, slower than 10th Gen i7-10750H.
For Mobile, Next year April minimum...if you call that soon.

Would this be a good purchase if we really won't use the laptop for gaming, but just as an all-around laptop for personal and work use? Or is there something about gaming laptops that make them a bad idea for non-gaming use?

Weight and battery life. Normally these budget Gaming Laptops are heavy and come with very small sized battery which is too low for Work usage if you want to carry it, max 3 hours with daily usage.
Now at this price, there are better all-around Laptops available with better build quality and higher battery life. If you are just planning to use this Laptop mainly in home, at your desk, probably just taking it from one room to another then you can go ahead. Because of the powerful hardware, it will last pretty long for normal day to day usage.

This is a great all around personal and work laptop as long as you don't need a long battery charge life.

This was the price for similar spec but with 4800h BEFORE the wave of pandemic buying demand screwed it up. 1tb, was $999 in the Acer tuff too. Now $1199 or more.. shitty amazon and wholesalers
