I just noticed that Amazon has dropped the price of the upcoming Fitbit Sense to $306.37 (plus tax/shipping) for the Carbon one, and $306.55 for the White/Gold one.

Not a huge drop, but if you were going to preorder one at $330, this will save you $20+.

Edit: Looks like the Blue/Gold Versa 3 preorder also has a slight price cut from $230 down to $216.12:

Do yourself a favor and get a warranty, fitbits usually stroke out at about the 1.5 to 2 year mark.

Funny you should say that. After my Ionic just up and died after 18mo, and the Versa I bought to replace it barely made it a year... I swore off Fitbit. But of course, I've decided to come back after they announced the Sense. And if I'm going to shell out that much money, I expect it to last me like 2-3 years. So I'm definitely getting an extended warranty!

Anyone who doesn't believe fitbits only last 1.5-2 years should visit the support forums.

I've had a ton of connection problems with the Ionic since buying it. However the software tracking is pretty good. I also hate how they've moved a lot of features to the paid service.

I've been debating buying a Garmin but trying to find the right model (need music and gps).

1.5 to 2 years if lucky. That's why I always buy when they are at least half off. they usually go on deep discount during holidays. I would wait.

I can confirm this with my Charge, Zip, Flex, Alta, and Alta HR. Usually, the battery went quite bad after a year, after 2 year it becomes horrible. Most of my Fitbit products die after 1 year and if I am lucky, Fitbit usually pretty good with warranty. I just not sure how this going to be since Google bought Fitbit last year.

Thanks OP.

Yes, use Amex for extended warranty benefits. Having logged over 36 million steps with Fitbit over the years (yes - I just looked) something will go wrong between 6-18 months of ownership so save receipts and expect to file a claim with Fitbit and/or under an extended warranty or both. It's an inconvenience but look at it this way - you'll almost be guaranteed to get a new or refurbished watch eventually.

I'll pile on the Fitbits aren't durable train but also mention the Apple Watch Series 4 & 5 are as bad and Apple has become a real problem acknowledging issues in the last 2 years. I've been fighting with them trying to get my series 5 replaced for the last 4 months because of a known battery issue and they just are giving me the complete runaround. I have literally sent it in twice only to have the same watch returned to me. Pretty much every wearable buyer should be buying the extended warranty period because these things no matter what the manufacturer are not built to last. As they add more and more features that's literally just more and more stuff to break. Use the discount savings to buy the 2-3 year warranty.

That's being generous. Mine usually last 366 days.

Garmin all the way. I've had a few watches over the years and have been very satisfied. I currently have the 245 music and haven't had any real issues. Main thing you'll need to decide is if you want a sports watch with a few smart watch capabilities or vice versa.

I've had the Fitbit I got my wife for several years. Hmmm. I must be the outlier!

As for Garmin, get the 245. Great watch, slim, this new model has the music included, and the GPS is accurate and fast. I used to have the 225, and eventually splurged on the Fenix 5+ Sapphire :-/
