With the unveiling of 11th gen intel CPUs, Big Navi and the new nvidia 3000 series, shouldn't we have a massive clearance or fire sale on current laptops?
3k series cards are going to take a while to come to laptops and the gains won't be as high because of how much power they draw. This is a good deal if you need a gaming laptop now.
Totally agree,
It was around this time last year that a bunch of 2060 laptops were selling for ~1k (EVOO, etc).

Knowing that usb 4, thunderbolt 4, hdmi 2.1 around corner + new gpus/cpus = no way that I'm buying aging tech for a tiny discount.

Black Friday should see some massive cuts this year.

I'll be keeping an eye out for refurb models in a couple months. I got my last Nitro 5 on the ebay acer refurb store for pretty cheap and it was like brand new.

These prices keep dropping and will continue to drop. By 2021 March these will be a lot cheaper.

Jesus. If need a laptop then this is a decent deal, if you can wait for "next gen", then obviously you don't need a new laptop, so move on.

Edit: ofcourse there's going be better deals on BF, mar 21, dec 22, nov 24...

This is absolutely a great deal for a 17" 144hz display gaming laptop. I missed the amazon deal of the day for their 15" version for $899. last weekend. But for 17" version with bigger SSD HD, this deal is very very respectable. The RTX is way better than 1660ti found in many recent promo. as this is the version of nvidia GPU capable of ray tracing and DLSS 2.0 support. Surprised this deal didnt get more attention.

This deal (I can get walmart 10% discount) or eluktronics rp-17 [eluktronics.com] for $1150 with a r7 4800H (self-install windows+drivers) or wait till black friday. I really want 17" and the 4800H looks a hair better for single thread and much better for multi-thread matlab (according to passmark).
