I saw the blendtec at my cousin's place and got impressed. Especially the ease with which it handled batters and nut butters. The usual $50-$100 blenders can handle all the liquidy stuff but they give up when it comes to nuts, lentils and grains.
The only downside to the Blendtec is the noise. It ranges between 95-105 db.
I ended up ordering the Vitamix E310.(Certified Reconditioned available for $289). It does everything that the Blendtec does with a lower noise profile. Ranges between 84 - 104 db.

By the way, decibel scale is logarithmic. In other words, 95 db is twice as loud as 85 db. 105 db is 4 times as loud as 85 db. Even with the Vitamix, I tend to not run it at the highest speeds. Speeds 1-6 are okay.

Got mine last time and its awesome. I just use my wooden spoon upside down as a tamper and make sure you dont go too deep. Love the dull blade and the jar size

Maybe a vitamix 5200 is a little better overall but its also twice the price

This blendtec has the vented lid, so you can buy a tamper in Amazon or other places. I have a different model and I almost sold it because I needed a tamper for thick smoothie bowls. Now, I am really happy with it. It costs less than Vitamix and performs really well.
You can also use it without a tamper but you have to be careful on the order of ingredients and the amounts.
I hope somebody finds this tip useful.

Do you have the wildside jar? If so, can you post a link to which tamper you bought?

I have been trying and my comment disappears. If you search for blendtec tamper in Amazon, is the only one and comes in two presentations: one comes with a spatula, the other doesn't. The box says tamperla. Also eBay has it. It is white grip and black body.

I bought this about 8 years ago from CostCo for the same price... just passed 7000 blends. The thing is awesome. The only issue with this blender is it is loud... like, wake up the whole house loud. But unless you plan to spend 2-3x as much to get a baffle around it, I think you are just going to have to deal with this (regardless of the brand).

Overall, this is a really solid blender, which our family uses several times daily.

I got one too and had a chance to compare it to a 5200 this weekend. I didn't do a whole lot of blending but did smoothies in both and I liked the consistency of the blendtec one better. Also the Vitamix left a piece of a frozen strawberry that wouldn't blend. So I'm very happy with my purchase after competing them. Watching the vitamix YouTube videos I was wondering if I made a wrong decision picking this. But I like the blendtec.

How good a deal is this? Will there be better deals on Amazon Prime day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday or around the holidays?

I'm currently using a food processor mainly for protein fluff ice cream and it doesn't quite get all the ice chunks, also cleanup is a bit of a hassle. How does this blendtec compare to the $100 ninja blender on amazon?

Tempting price, but really waiting on a sale that includes the twister jar. I think I'll keep holding out, but good price on the blender.

Get the blendtec. Ninja will not pulverize greens, seeds, nuts etc like a blendtec or vitamix. Youll get a chunkier consistency
