Would be great if this had access and visual studio.

If I buy this and install on my laptop but then a year later the laptop gets smashed - I need to buy it again?

What's the difference between this and others on eBay selling for cheaper?

Ebay has a bunch of sellers on Home office 1 key perm for 60 to 70 range, these any good?
I've purchased a MS Office a few times on ebay for less than $10 and never had a problem (well, I had a problem 1 time but the seller fixed it quickly)

Maybe this is legit. But I purchased 2016 pro last year for $5 without any issues (it comes with Acces, One Note and a couple others but I don't think VS)

Is the one time purchase of the full local install of Office dead at this point?

I used to get it through work, govt, or edu for next to nothing ($10). But they all have transitioned to subscription based model.

I understand its more $ for M$, but a one time fee is much easier on the wallet then an annual subscription of nearly $100. However, I think I already know the answer. If people are willing to pay it, they will absolutely keep doing it. Frown

The professional versions do have MS Access etc.
Based on comments from last deal on SD, I purchased office pro from a site named Bryte Soft after checking their trustpilot reviews etc. They have office 2016 pro for around $30 and 2019 for around $50 many times.

Received code within 5 seconds and was able to validate without any issues.

This deal is for one time purchase of Office, without any annual subscription!

I guess you are talking about Office 365 which is different.

Regarding offline download... even most DVD purchases just have the initiator/key and you have to download via internet.

For most people, OpenOffice or LibreOffice are completely adequate. They are both free and 99% compatible with MS Office files. Our family has been using those free office suites for years without issue.

Just grab an office 365 code off ebay for a few bucks. If it stops working some time down the road (never happened for me but I have heard it could), just buy another one.

any better free alternative that you can recommend.

fyi, xfinity users get Norton for free.
I run malwarebytes and bitdefender, both of them free. They seem to work well and don't bog down my old computers in any way that I can tell.

Thanks OP, purchased. This is a better deal to me than paying for an Office365 license.

Support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020 (same goes for defender). I am still Ok with Norton . . . but i was wondering what win 10 users are doing.
Why not update to windows 10? Codes are on ebay for a few bucks. You can also use your windows 7 code for free and it will work.

Some day, microsoft will make MS office entirely free, and it will be too late with Google's dominant market share. Gone will be the days of downloading software from websites. Everything will run on ARM, apps come from stores, and Microsoft/Intel/AMD might be too late.
Unless google comes out with a desktop version, I doubt that will happen.

Visual Studio Community and Visual Studio Code are both completely free. For 99% of most people that will get the job done needed at home. Very rarely will anyone need something like Visual Studio Pro or Enterprise editions. Which those are expensive products.

Personally, just stick with Visual Studio Code these days for completely free coding work at home. Besides a few already baked in integrated tools, there isn't much difference between them all.

Could you let us know some of the sellers you purchased the keys from?
