The notable differences between MSI Optix G27C5 and Gigabyte G27F:
- MSI is VA panel vs Gigabyte IPS
- MSI has higher refresh rate (although not enough to matter to call it a difference)
- Gigabyte has more features that can actually be useful (Aim stabilizer and Black Equalizer)
- Both are Freesync premium, but only Gigabyte is G-sync compatible (not the same as g-sync certified but better than nothing)
- Gigabyte has a higher peak brightness (250 vs 300 i think)
This are at least what I felt to be important. There were other minor panel differences, but not enough to matter or I really care about. After rebates and/or discount, both monitors sell for $200. While Gigabyte looks better on paper, from what I could find for reviews (mainly on personal reviews in places like newegg, bestbuy, etc., nothing technical), Gigabyte is a pain to deal with. Their quality control also seems to be an issue. Combine that with purchasing from newegg, it can be a major headache.
The other things I managed to find about Gigabyte was, while the additional features are nice on paper, it doesn't necessarily translate as well on screen. One technical review I manage to find said the Black Equalizer washes out the game (which is understandable), but it can get to a point that it actually degrades the resolution of the game and not just wash it out.
I don't really care about the whole 27" FHD crap. It's purely for gaming, so I'm not worries about the color accuracy or pixel density. Both monitors seem to be good enough for its intended purpose.
If anyone has any input, that'd be great. In the mean time I'm still going with MSI to try it out. Play some games and see if the dark scenes are a problem. I hate being killed in warzone because a full black latex suit woman is camping in a dark corner inside a building with a damn origin.

I believe it's like "credit" not cashback. I used it once on homedepot I believed

Good thoughts here, wish I could help with your inquiry. I'm also considering the MSI model from Costco. How are you liking it? For the reasons you are also concerned about are the reasons why I won't likely purchase the Gigabyte btw. On paper it sounds nice but if there's a problem I'm not dealing with Gigabyte or Newegg. PITA and I'm not that curious about a product that is under reviewed at this price point. If it turns out I'm missing out I'll figure it out later and perhaps pay 25-50 more, but not before. Not for me.

I have the same Costco MSI monitor. I got this about a year ago and have been happy with it since. Color isn't horrible. Picture with the monitor listed here would be better since it's IPS. I think if you want it purely for gaming, then frame rates should be prioritized. You probably won't be moving viewing angles since you're using it for gaming and always in the same position. Also if anything is wrong with the monitor, then Costco's return policy is much easier to deal with than New Egg. I think you also get a 2% discount when making the purchase through Costco using the credit card. Hope this helps!

I have the 1440p curved version of this. I do not regret making the purchase. It has been used daily for 12+ hours a day for the last 2 months. No issues what so ever. I use it for work then gaming at night. Gorgeous monitor. If you can afford it make the jump to 1440p.
