This near-future trilogy is the first chance for English-speaking readers to experience this multiple-award-winning phenomenon from Cixin Liu, China's most beloved science fiction author.

In The Dark Forest, Earth is reeling from the revelation of a coming alien invasion-in just four centuries' time. The aliens' human collaborators may have been defeated, but the presence of the sophons, the subatomic particles that allow Trisolaris instant access to all human information, means that Earth's defense plans are totally exposed to the enemy. Only the human mind remains a secret. This is the motivation for the Wallfacer Project, a daring plan that grants four men enormous resources to design secret strategies, hidden through deceit and misdirection from Earth and Trisolaris alike. Three of the Wallfacers are influential statesmen and scientists, but the fourth is a total unknown. Luo Ji, an unambitious Chinese astronomer and sociologist, is baffled by his new status. All he knows is that he's the one Wallfacer that Trisolaris wants dead.

Highly recommend this book and the whole series.
This trilogy is one of the best, if not the best sci-fi that I've ever read. Heard Netflix is going to put it on TV, so it is now a good time to read them.
I've read all 3 and they are definitely worth the time investment. Very different from anything else I've ever read, but I enjoyed them.

Amazing hard sci-fi. Absolutely worth reading all three books. Time well spent. Hopefully Netflix series will do it fair justice.

Thanks! Read the first one earlier this year and enjoyed it. Heard this one is better.

I have nothing to add that hasn't been said, but I'll join the chorus saying this entire series is excellent and definitely worth your time and at this price you can't lose

Ahh kills me that I didn't get the first one in the series when it was on sale a few days ago because I didn't want to get just one. Now that one is back to normal price and this is on sale, makes me wonder if the third will be soon.

Great series, and I think this is my favorite of the three. All three start a bit slow, but well worth it.

It's all right. As a social science person I don't really appreciate how the author reduce intergalactic-relations to one-off noon-cooperative games.
