Base fare is carry-on only, with buy-up options at booking for checked bags/seat selection/etc (if you book directly through TAP at the same price as the 3rd party OTA's, who you shouldn't be booking through in most circumstances).

6 months ago it was unfathomable to believe the European countries will still be under lock down in fall. Here we are and France and UK just announced they are closing down. Buy tickets at your own risk.

If you book directly through Air Portugal, there is the option to include a 1-5 day stopover in Lisbon at no extra cost, which I very strongly recommend anyone considering this deal to take advantage of. Awesome city to spend a few days in.

checked bag is like $40-80 depending when/who you prepay it through PER LEG. unless you are ready to strictly be bag packing with only carryon, it adds another $150+ ive seen deals similar before the Rona, i figure airlines would be more aggressive. $240 WITH check bag is better for my situation. this would be a family trip. we need the checked bag(s)

Not bad overall, but yeh...checked bag fees are high on this. I did up a quote for my family of 4, only 2 checked bags, and ended up at $330/person ($411/person with bag, $246 not). Now, that's actually pretty good considering those were June dates, just after school gets out and you'd normally have to spend $500+/person, but given all the uncertainty still out there I'm surprised as MoisesA7010 said that this isn't more aggressive, like including one checked bag.

I highly recommend everyone passes on this, just speaking from personal experience. I had my honeymoon booked with TAP from SFO to FCO this October. I booked it through Chase Travel which adds more complexity, but TAP wasn't helpful either. First, TAP screwed up the flights and had my layover flight leave before I even landed. Then, they changed my dates and added a 24 hour layover. Then, they cancelled my flights. All of this with no communication and no refunds.

It took me 3 months and two DOT complaints to finally get my 2 business class seats refunded.

I just cashed out my 600k Chase UR points after that horrible experience and I am never booking a flight with a third party company or TAP again. Several folks resorted to charging the flight back and since TAP didn't have their $*#T together, TAP failed to respond and everyone got their money back that way.

Here's just one of many threads going back to 2019: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/t...ap-35.html

And a recent article: https://www.usatoday.com/story/tr...763768002/

Just my two cents speaking out from frustration with this horrible company.

CDC is a mess of misinformation. I'm not too worried about covid. Two relatives tested positive, both in 70's, both not in great health (overweight, on BP med), and they told me they felt crappy for 5-8 days, low grade fever, no appetite, water, soda, whatever tasted horrible, slept 18 hours a day and both recovered in under 10 days. Their doc thinks there is a good chance the immune systems of baby boomers is stronger than previous generations. Interesting theory.
