Needed a monitor and needed it now so I grabbed one of these after trying to find something with similar specs. I know lots don't like TN panels but I like them due to their low gtg response times.

All the reviews I could find for Monoprice Zero-G monitors on YouTube said they were pretty solid....until I saw Linus's. https://youtu.be/qgyzDUbmAhU?t=188
GIGABYTE G27QC is just 290 bucks. Got VA panel and 92% DCI-P3. More reliable brand and not that much more expensive. why spend money on things like this one?

do they mention a model number in the video? i didn't see one or one in their forum. there are 2 current variants available a TN and a VA.

I feel back in the day Linus was a good source of information, now I feel he's just a sell out and he only likes stuff that is expensive and not everyone can buy.... In my eyes he has lost credibility.
I have an older version of this monitor. Same specs, different look. G-sync compatible for anyone who's interested. Not great overall, but pretty good for $250.

Just watched this guy for the first time. I can't believe people take him seriously. Taking 15 minutes to share 90 seconds worth of usable information and just shilling the rest of the time. I'm not defending Monoprice, but this video is trash.

Meh. I hear what you're saying. Honestly I think, after 10+ years of YouTube, he's running out of exciting material to cover. So building a $30k Mac Pro killer is what we're left with. People are always excited to see a Bugatti do 2.4 0-60 and 260mph, rather than the new Toyota Corolla. Kinda the same idea. Though I will say he recently built an entire computer from parts off Wish!
At the end of the day, he's got 20 years going to every trade show, being behind every manufacturer's curtain, and reviewing products. He's got at least SOME experience. And there was a shortage of reasonable video reviews of these monitors, so here we are. I will admit he sounds like a bit of a baby in this video though.

I didn't see a model mentioned. I fully admit it may be a different model. But it's got the same specs of 27", 1440p, 144Hz, 4ms/1ms overdrive, and is the same brand. While this could be a different variant, the panel is likely still from the same manufacturer. Doubtful we'd see night and day differences in any performance category.
EDIT: VA variant is curved. TN is flat. The monitor in Linus's video is flat. So it would seem the likelihood it's the same monitor is high.

then again he is very critical of a lot of stuff. it's hard for him to like something. but he knows what he's talking about. when I watch his stuff I almost expect an ok to a poor review of things.

I have no idea who this guy is but I like this response. Feel like I understand who the person is and the line of product he's probably used to compared to this product being shown. Not that he's bad at it just probably a little out of touch with people on the lower end of the scale.

4ms response time, 1ms when overdriven
