Product Name: | Leak Prevention System with 1 Leak Detector |
Product Description: | Save yourself thousands of dollars in water damage by using the Guardian Leak Prevention System. Whether you’re worried about a broken washing machine, an overflowing sump pump or a leaking water heater, Guardian has your back. Install the Guardian Valve Controller over your existing metal quarter turn ball valve (from -1) in minutes without any tools or pipe cutting and place the Guardian Leak Detector near any fixture that might leak. The moment the Leak Detector senses water, extreme cold or an earthquake, it will automatically shut off your water main to prevent further damage and you will receive a notification on your phone via the Guardian app. The Valve Controller has an optional battery backup and works without the internet, so it will protect your home even without electricity or internet. The wireless Leak Detector can be placed up to a 1000 ft. away from the Valve Controller, to cover even the largest homes and their batteries last for up to 15-years. Over a 100 additional Leak Detectors can be added to protect properties of any size. The Valve Controller will test your valve every week to make sure it is working properly during an emergency and will alert you if anything goes wrong. The system includes a Valve Controller, a Leak Detector and 2 Remote Sensors that plug into Leak Detectors to extend it to hard to reach areas. Use the free iOS and Android app to configure your system and monitor or control it from anywhere, with no monthly fees or other equipment. |

Hopefully that's accurate .... some Tallies can be off, especially @ Wally World.
If you don't see it on the shelves/racks, look overhead at the "overstock racking".
If still not found, THEN find an associate.
And learn the Golden Rule of BS: DON'T call asking for it.
If you do call ahead to ask, you probably will hear, "Oh, that 200$ thing? Oh, it's 50$ now? Gee, no, sorry .... it's, um, sold out, that inventory is, um, wrong (with a chuckle)"

I bought this after the pressure relief valve on my water heater blew out and for about half an hour it was dumping water on my floor as fast as the pipe could deliver it. It took a week of noisy fans/dehumidifiers and an insurance claim to get things back in order. This would have prevented all that hassle.
It's great insurance - buy this now and hope you never need it. Totally worth it for $50!
Once a month you should tell the motor to close and open the valve.
That'll keep the valve loosey goosey .... it would be a shame if the motor couldn't cut the water off because the valve is frozen from corrosion.

LEEO a prime example
As the operating system ages, support for app security gets canceled, as the engineers move-on to work on the newest operating systems.
That means: Who will support the app to talk with this device for the long haul?
The plumbing guy, who says he's been there for years, says he doesn't remember having them.
He got a ladder, moved it around to look in a few places, took about a half hour, ultimately offering to keep looking and to call me.
I was at a local HD store that BS showed had 4.
Couldn't find any

Second is many sensors failed within the year. Tested by replacing the battery and no dice.
Now this does not even consider the issues with a cloud based controller. If the company shuts down this project (which I think is more likely than not), then your purchase is useless. This company specializes in hardware and clearly does not know how to design software.
So I went to a Dome z-wave controller (actually made by the same company but I do not use their software) and Fibaro water leak sensors. This works perfectly and does not rely on the cloud. Even if both companies go out of business, my system will work.
