It was very easy to see an option for those that don't have a .EDU address; it's clearly stated right on the site in the post's link: "No .edu email? No problem.
Click here to learn how you can still qualify. Offer terms apply." That link takes you to an option that uses the promo code "non_edu_promocode", which worked fine for me. Perhaps "Fundamentals of Reading Web Pages" should be a mandatory course.

Just a note that I had to add exceptions to my ad- and tracking-blockers to get through the "onboarding" process and to go through the cancellation ordeal.

The site is clearly designed to be misleading in a lot of ways (four steps to cancel, each of which makes you think you're making a terrible, irreversible mistake). As many others have stated (thanks!), you can "cancel", and you'll still receive your free year. I'd recommend that everyone do this immediately. They're clearly planning to make a lot of money off students who forget and will be charged $180 in a year.

I canceled right after signing up will continue to have access for one year.

Also, this is from their TOS: "You may cancel a Recurring Subscription at any time, but if you cancel your subscription before the end of the current subscription period, we will not refund any subscription fees already paid to us. Following any cancellation, however, you will continue to have access to the service through the end of your current subscription period.

Make sure there's the "edu" promo code or something in the field. I don't remember what it was exactly but it automatically populated for me. There should be a promo code there.
There's no promo code field at all that I see; it's just Card/Paypal and then points to enter CC#, expiry date, and CVC and a big red "Place Secure Order" button underneath

There is an apply promo code in the middle of the page. You need to select it. It's very bad ux/ui indeed

Are you currently located outside of USA? I had the same issue which resolved itself after I VPNed back to the US.

YES! This was the issue; it resolved itself as soon as I VPNed back. Thanks!

Thanks! All I needed was my EDU email address to get this deal. It doesn't use one of those services that confirm if you're actually enrolled or not!

Just signed up and they do that annoying thing where they make you follow people. As if I knew what I wanted to do the moment I signed up.

Luckily you can just add 6 random people and remove them later, but no way to skip during initial sign up.

Also they say you have to be enrolled, but how they going to find out? All they need is the .edu email which they send a link to continue the enrollment.

Also if you are even thinking about joining this, then do it now. The offer is only good for today the 17th of September.
