Gateway is the same company that sold E-Machines, so the quality is not there. But as long as it's cheap right?

- sketchy website for the PC maker itself, scant on details especially in the support area. Appears to be a phone number and email only. No documentation, not online, not in the box, not on the PC itself in digital format.
- soldered RAM. Yes 16GB is probably fine but we like options, don't we?
- lack of access to replace even the battery (let alone HD or RAM) without dismantling the unit. One small door on the bottom to access an m.2 port, otherwise you are taking out like 8-10 screws to remove the whole bottom.
-very minor gripe and not a dealbreaker, but another "negative" to be aware of is that it has that matte finish that absolutely loooooves fingerprints, smudges, etc.
- Sound was my final straw - very horribly tinny, even for a laptop.
Now if you can forgo all of the above, it is a very nice feeling build, sturdy, great screen, good touchpad, nice keys etc.
And if you want to get your fill of the "wow gateway really? Is it 1995 again haha. I'll take one with a floppy drive lol" just go read the other thread. It's all been done.

"An Acer representative confirmed later that although Acer does own the Gateway brand, it is not directly involved in the production or manufacture of these devices."
