Welp, I fell for it. I don't need this, as I actually already own everything in this kit, but just ordered it anyway. I have a friend getting married and moving away to their first home next month. If I can bear to part with it, this might be his wedding present.

Thanks for the $20 off coupon, too! Total $115.31 OTD, using my Lowe's card. I had to pick a store in west Nashville to get the $125.55 starting price. The stores closer to me were either full price or OOS.

I'm just saying, in any calculations, you need to compare like voltages. Choose either operating voltage or MAX voltage.

24v is a MAX voltage (fully charged without a load).

18v is the operating voltage of batteries that measure 20v when fully charged without a load.

24v (MAX) times 4ah is 96Wh
20v (MAX) times 5ah is 100Wh
I am no electrician, I honestly want to know. I thought the Watt Hours was the capacity regardless of the voltage. And that you will get the ah by dividing by the voltage drawn. So if the tool doesn't actually draw 24 volts then the ah is should be higher than stated, no? Are you saying that the 18v tools claim that thier 100wh batteries are 5ah?

Keep in mind that the 24v is measured with a fully charged battery without a load on it, while 18v tools actually operate at 18v. The comparable operating voltage of that 24v battery is closer to 21v.

21v * 4ah = 84 watt hours of power.
18v * 5ah = 90 watt hours of power.
Technical point: "watt hours" are units of energy (power is energy/time, and you're then multiplying by time). So it's really a matter of how many mechanical watts are being delivered at the drill head (how "powerful" the drill is - a function of the instantaneous volts, amps, and motor/gear efficiency) and how long it can do that for (battery capacity). These are the two things that folks really care about.

Seriously how many times is Lowes going to clearance these Kobalt 24V cordless tools? This has to be at least the 4th time. Clearance, then back to full price, repeat.

650 in lbs won't even remove a lug nut. Would be ok for smaller jobs.
What will remove?

where did you find this code? Does this type of code work in store [perhaps at customer service counter]?
It will only online, trust me, cause I tried at counter, even they typed in the code, it will not work. Or you can try it in store.

I noticed the drill is a hammer drill. Is it fine to use the hammer drill as a normal house hold drill?
The drill has 3 settings - high-speed, low-speed and hammer. High speed is for drilling soft materials, low is for harder steel and hammer setting is for drilling into concrete (with special bits). The settings on the chuck itself are for added control when driving screws into soft or hard materials or different depths.

people mention this all the time, but in a bit coded way & not include direct links. ex: *bates , *frugal

Also, any indication that it can be used in store?
Got it from *oney, not sure about the used in store part.

seems this is a clearance item. Near me, this price is only at locations with quantity of 1 or 'low in stock' status. The few locations with stock of more than 1 or so, price is 181 sale price

Eh, torque of 650 in-lbs for the drill and 1800 in-lbs for the driver really isn't a lot compared to many of the 18/20v options out there.

Voltage by itself isn't much of an indicator of power, it is the volts times the amperage that really matters.
I have this set and it is adequate for normal projects. I have a new deWalt cordless drill and it has more torque (drove a long lag bolt into wood better than the Kobalt).

Only ones in my area are $180... or $125 but $79 for truck delivery. Got the Bosch 2x $99 deal a few weeks ago so I guess I'll settle for that even though these are more powerful and brushless.
