Looks like you need a paid subscription to their cloud service for this to be of any functional use. Some other IP camera companies like WyzeCam have a free but still functional tier.
I have 8 yi cams and have no complaints for my purpose of keeping an eye on my house and my dog when I'm not home. I have 4 outdoor cameras that are on 24/7 and 4 indoor cameras that are all plugged into smart outlets. I set up a group through Alexa to turn them all on when we leave the house. I'm not sure I believe the chinese government is spying on us through these cameras but just in case they are they can see the outside of my house 24/7 and the inside only when I'm not home.

That's not accurate, whenever it detects motion it records to the sd card. You can view live or recorded clips on the sd card at anytime on the yi app for free.

I just looked back at my Amazon order history, I ordered my first yi cam in 2016. I have a total of 8 cameras and as far as I can recall I have never had to reset or replace any of them.
These are not ONVIF compatible for anyone wondering about adding them to their NVR system.

I was in the wyze camp for long time. Couldn't resist at this price. cheaper than wyze. Will give it a try. Hope it won't let me down.

I had one yi camera outdoor. Yi is good quality. very fast for both live and history viewing, and lots of features. Wyze SD card can't work sometimes. Only issue it only records 6 seconds for free users, while Wyze records 12 seconds. But I use SD card, so it's not a huge issue. Still hope Yi team can increase the limit in the future.

I like it you can view multiple cameras at the same time. Wyze still missing any desktop app, and i have to jump between cameras.

Quote :
9 Live Camera Feeds

Download the YI Home App PC/Mac client and view up to 9 live camera feeds on one screen, wherever you are. Keep track of what's going on in every room of your house or small business, and feel rest assured that you won't miss a thing.
Will give it a try. Currently having 6 Wyze. It will be inconvenient hopping between wyze and yi apps. will see how it goes.

I use a couple of the 720p versions of these with an SD card. Not professional but great to look in my home while away. It also helps with my brain fog.

I wish there is a camera that can support 256gb card. Wyze and Eufy both can't.

You can add rtsp, onvif, and disable cloud for most versions of this camera easily. Allwinner is the recent platform I believe.

I use these cameras daily. You don't have to pay for the cloud service. They accept an sd card which you can review from anywhere and it will email you alerts all without paying. Downside is that if you dont pay for cloud the footage is stored locally which is the same as wyze.

I have this system. I did NOT need to subscribe to the service. I added micro SD cards. I can go back and review video for a few days. Length of recording will depend on card storage. Easy to setup. No issues with the app. Picture quality good enough to watch the front and back door. This is a good price. I paid at least $20 each when I bought them as singles. Would recommend.
