This isn't true, the argument to transfer to another container after opening is flavor.
Why would you think the interior of the can, which holds the food, would corrode after opening?
Regardless, even if it magically starts to corrode after opening for some reason, how many years do you think people leave opened cans in their fridge?
Exactly why I cited a metallic taste

After they develope a small crack, they fit. The small crack eventually turns into a big split that actually makes it fit better.
My old can covers are 14 years old and very flexible soft plastic. They fit nice and tight when I first got them but the flexible plastic still made it easy to to put on. Brand is called Good Idea. They really held up. Too bad I can't find them again!
You are both kind of right. The interior of the can is lined. But the metal that you cut into with the can opener corrodes almost overnight. I keep doing this out of laziness.
I do expect them to end up cracking in the dishwasher but at this price I figured who cares. I expect even the higher priced ones to break eventually anyway so for last 2 weeks they've been just fine
Well we can take your word for it or take USDA's:
