I knew people like you would pop up here.
You do realize those "by-products" contain proper nutrients right?
In fact, surprise!, in many cultures, humans eat them.
So why do you rely on some random websites with no professional credentials than actual vets or professional breeders? You know those people who compete their dogs in agility games? A lot of them feed Purina Pro Plan. If there were better nutrients available that could help performance, why wouldn't they be feeding them?
Are there better foods than Purina Pro Plan? Yeah probably. But they probably aren't better in the way that you understand it.

It's not at all difficult to find a much better food around the same price.

If you look at ANY of the reviews of the top rated options on that site, you will see that barely anyone can get their cat to eat or even look at those choices. Again, if your cat eats it and it's popular enough to be a nationwide top seller, then it's unlikely that you're going to be getting a food that is actually going to harm your cat.

And I've found many vets recommend the products that have been marketed to them since university when they good huge price breaks. It's trained-by-manufacturers habit. And, huge manufacturers often give price breaks for more sales via vet practices. See: https://www.petsnmore.o
Oh, and I've got 2 recently weaned foster kittens who won't touch the Purina or even worse Royal Canin that was donated to the shelter -- by the manufacturers -- and provided to me.
One is eating my older kitten's dry Acana and the other is eating her Acana and Authority wet.
So I always thought Purina had a lot of nerve charging twice that for their cat food when it's no better and does contain corn, soy, and wheat.

My Vet, as others have said in this thread, was fine with Pro Plan Sport. They don't sell anything Purina in their office either, so it wasn't any sort of endorsement.
Having read through several pet food threads on Slickdeals, Im convinced that if a pet food came out with ONLY the most pure ingredients possible, like daily massaged Kobe Chicken meat, someone would chime in to let everyone know that feeding an animal this will eventually cause their pet to get autism.
