Not full bandwidth, so not 4k120.

Has other HDMI 2.1 features, VRR, eARC, and supports 1440p120 and 1080p120. Most next gen console games that look good probably won't do 4k120, so IMHO it only matters if you will get a high end PC

Amazing that this just released TV is this cheap already
For those saying they did not believe or didn't see the 75" on sale, i was on the page when it was live but hesitated on checking out. Here's proof that it was $956.75. My goodness it seemed like a super slick price...
That's why you get BB to price match before the Walmart deal sours or sells out.

My Samsung died after owning it about 6 months. Sometimes, you just end up with duds.
Back in 2012, when 1080p was becoming affordable, we got a 43" Sharp that lasted a whopping 24 hours. It was a Black Friday special. Had to sleep in line for it. I have the R613 now, which I've watched practically every night for the past 20 some odd months.

I was very excited to learn the mini-LED tech was coming to the 6 series but not after I learned they'd be crippling it. Does anyone else feel like the R635s are a fab consolidation move that they're using to falsely up-sell the series? It feels like a very odd decision otherwise...

How does this compare to the 65" lg from costco? 65un8500

I do prefer ips panel compared to va. I dont like local dimming as most of the demos have the dimming trailing the image. I would just turn it off. Roku is nice, but I already have a shield tv, mi box, and a fire tv cube. I see the tcl has vrr, but rtings was having trouble getting it to work with amd cards or their xbox.
IPS will never be able to compete with VA Panel on contrast ratio. Contrast ratio is one of the most important factors for image quality.

VA panel gets 6000:1 vs. IPS 1000:1. It's night and day if you see picture quality of VA Panel. VA panel is the cheap fake "OLED" like TV. Nothing beats its contrast ratio unless you buy OLED TV.

Now viewing angle tho, IPS wins hand down. VA panel is great if you look at it head on, which I am going to do. I do not sit off axis from my TV. So, the choice is clear for me. I'll buy VA anyday until OLED gets cheap enough (<$1000).

True the marketing is so sketch. They say 4k/up to 120fps. I think they mean either or so probably 1080p120 at best

Talking about consoles not this TV
rtings said it's a 120Hz panel but still only HDMI 2.0 as advertised. Most people wouldn't notice unless you are some ultra hard core PC gamer. New consoles will push visuals over framerate, maybe 4K at 60Hz

Sounds like you need a new cable with that HDMI 2.1 8K60Hz and 4K120Hz bandwidth. https://www.twice.com/blog/hdmi-2...day-season

In other words most are happy streaming compressed video that won't be pushing this TV. I still think getting this 75 cheap is worth the gamble, the FW issues will likely be ironed out in the return period. But what do I know, I'm not even sure I've seen soap opera effect. I never bothered with those settings.

For what it's worth, I have the 55R635 and the viewing angle is so terrible that sitting dead perfect center of the set the edges (and I mean like 50% of the screen that's not the center) exhibit off-angle washout that nullifies the contrast advantage over IPS for this particular series. If it wasn't for the input lag being so low on this set I would return it, (I only use for gaming) as even 15 feet away dead center there is no angle which you see the entire image "on angle." I don't think I've seen a TV with poorer viewing angles in memory than this series.

Maybe. It will also be cheaper 6 months from now. And cheaper a year from now also. When it comes to PCs and TVs or any electronics for that matter, if it's a good enough deal for a few months and you want/need it then make your move. Life is short, this is a relatively small purchase compared to a house, car, or having a child so buy what you use on a daily basis and enjoy. Smilie

40% off on a 75 inch 2020 TV that's just been released with mini-LED tech (25,000 mini LEDs/over 1000 zones of local dimming) is just good as any best deal right now. This TV is about the same TV as 8 series of last year. Don't think it can get any better than this for non OLED TV.

Buy a TV and find out.

Should I wait until black friday? will it go lower on black friday?
Just remember, many of the Black Friday deal TV are not the same set.. Many times they will have allot less dimming zones, features or ports.
Example the M Series Vizio for $349 last year at Walmart, had only 10 dimming zones and could not get bright anywhere close as other models. Was really a bad set.

I have the TCL 8-Series 825 and it smokes my old Hisense H9F. Hisense refunded my money on that piece of trash.

The 75" has 240 zones, not 1000+.

Yes, same with the PS5, but my point is most good looking games will not hit 4k120 and will most likely do either 1440p120, turn down graphical quality settings to hit 4k120, or just be a less pretty game. AFAIK only COD cold war was announced to be 4k120 so far and it doesn't seem to look as good as MW

The Nvidia 3080, just released and better than the GPUs in those consoles, can't reliably hit 4k120.
What about just 60 hz 4k, no graphical reductions for non fast paced competition games?

It's doubtful you will get to pick if it's displayed 4k60 or 1440p120. It's more likely it's whatever the developer decides. Most of the games are likely going to use "tricks" like amd's image sampling which will use downsampling to run a lower res but sharpen it so it's really quite difficult to tell the difference.
