OD should price match to Amazon or Walmart, so the out-of-pocket would be lower.

When I was a kid Duracell were the best batteries. They did not leak. What happened? In the height of OfficeMax rolling rewards I accumulated a lot of Duracell batteries. The batteries are dated for 10 years but 2 years in, sitting in an AC controlled closet 75% had at least one leaking battery.
Duracell does have a program to get leaking batteries and damaged devices replaced or fixed for free. I have not bothered to go down that path as you have to mail all the stuff to them and I don't want to throw more money down that hole.Maybe someone could comment on success in using that program. I just don't understand why Duracell does not just fix the product. It is obvious they know they have a problem.
Even the free HF AAA don't leak. Why can't Duracell figure it out?

AA/AAA 16-PK $15.51 A/C
AA 24-PK $20.47 A/C
OKAY. OKAY. We know these leak. This deal is mainly for folks who need to meet the $10 minimum monthly spend to be eligible for ink cartridge recycling.

I know reward dollars and coupons count against the cash back total. Not sure about officedepot giftcards.

I claimed a damaged led headlamp, they asked me the value and gave me a check, didn't have to ship them the damaged item. They just asked for pictures of the damaged item, where it's stored, the leaking batteries...
I have also claimed the warranty on leaking batteries, they gave me 2 $10 vouchers for duracell batteries. Just sent pics too, didn't have to ship the leaking batteries.
I think it's against usps policy to ship damaged batteries.
You should try sending in the item through their guarantee program. https://www.duracell.co
Why would Duracell leak, and if they do leak, then what to expect from other less known brands in the market? I thought Duracell is a quality battery, in a similar manner to Energizer.
