$104 is a decent price for this reel but it's gone for less in the past.
I've seen these reach the $75 range for the reel in 3000 size and $100 for the reel in 8000 long cast size (woot). Overall this is a decent price if you were in the market for this exact real.

Otherwise the Daiwa BG as previously mentioned is a much better bang for your buck. I've never met anyone who preferred a conflict over a BG after handling both. Penn is super overpriced for what they are offering at MSRP.

The absolutely only advantage a conflict has over other reels is the weight reduction. Outside of that, you're paying for the name.

Even at $100+ I'd take an $80 BG over it anyday. Far superior where it matters most.

The BG is a very solid reel, but I already have one of those in the arsenal, so I'm giving this one a try.

The Daiwa BG 2500 ($97) and the 3000 ($99) on Amazon. Good deal, but not as slick of a price as the Penn

I think you're pretty right on. I've the Battle II and BG in 4000 size and they're comparable, giving the slight edge to the BG for being smoother. I'm getting this strictly for the weight. It makes a difference if you're tossing plugs all day.

Penn is a drop ship brand too. I'd stay away from brands like Penn, KastKing, etc. and stick to the proven brands (Shimano, Daiwa just to name couple).

The BG 2500 was $86 just last week on Amazon. Got mine on Saturday but haven't had the change to use it yet. Diawa BGs are one size larger than their model number suggests.

For my light weight set up I use an Okuma Helios HSX-30. It's been great against bass and small/medium sized gar.

I was checking out the Conflict a while back and reviews seem mixed. Main bonus is the lighter weight compared to other Penn models like the Battle but with less saltwater resistance.

KastKing is a drop ship brand but Penn makes high quality products. Their quality is on par with the other Japanese brands you mentioned.

Or wait for a sale and snag the Shimano Stradic Ci4 instead. It was $150 not long ago. Will probably hit that again for Black Friday / end of season sales.
