Such a dumb oversight that it doesn't take Bluetooth

I thought so as well but I now know better -

"The Nintendo Switch uses Bluetooth to communicate with the wireless controllers, and like other gaming consoles, it doesn't allow Bluetooth headphones to connect directly to the system. The workaround provided in the 4.0. 0 patch allows wireless headsets that use a USB dongle to provide the wireless capability.Apr 9, 2020"

A lot of bad reviews and warnings against the vendor. Probably isn't worth it.

Tried this as well as the Genki that plugs into the bottom USB-C port and both had unacceptable latency. I don't want to buy a set of headphones that support aptX low latency specifically to use with this adapter so both of them went back. Unless you can stand a 1 second delay in what you are seeing vs. hearing or you already own aptX low latency headphones pass on this.

Even the "new" 3ds was wifi-g because all the other 3ds were g. It's not a matter of oversight. It's being cheap.

Yeah, nah, it's not an oversight. All 3 console makers (Ninty, Sony, MS) have done this "no bt audio" on purpose. I think I remember reading that it's to retain the ability to sell add-ons, adapters, and direct peripherals.

Basically, don't give the consumer too much freedom, there's good money to be had in there!

Yup and to make money off 3rd party licensing deals like turtle beach. Everything money grabs now and limit what we can do...

Can you talk through the headset though?

I played all of The Last of Us Part II with earbuds connected to the PS4, since my monitor speakers are crap, and the audio would occasionally cut out. Using the Genki bluetooth adapter with my Sony WH1000XM2 on the PS4 there were no more drops. The Sony headphones only support the AptX HD codec but to me there was no noticeable latency.

If you have an older PC the USB ones might also be a better option since it'll use a better codec than what you have built in if you use Bluetooth headphones.

Unfortunately none of them seem to use LDAC or AAC.

I totally recommend a USB based one over a 3.5mm jack one. The Genki has a passthrough for charging the Switch, but it's pretty expensive. There are a bunch of similar and cheaper ones but no idea which ones are good.

I was disappointed that you had to use the dumb dongles with the switch. Even worse that the pro controllers have no headphone jacks.

Keep in mind that aptX won't let you do 2-way audio -for that you need a dongle and headset that support FastStream

Sorry, I missed your question before adding my last comment. No, you'll need FastStream for that (see my previous comment).

Wait for the Gulikit Bluetooth adapter to go back on sale if you have any concerns about a case. I use the Nintendo grips so I was concerned about something not fitting. The Gulikit has been outstanding and is low profile while plugging into the USB-C port.

What's a good price to pick these up? There's currently a 10% off coupon on amazon.
Another thread in SD has a discount code that doesnt work.

I think I paid about $17-18 for mine but it is worth the full price at about $10 more so that is up to you.

I would think it wasn't an oversight, but more because they probably need to dedicate the chip to just the controllers to make sure they function correctly without adding any variables to the system
