Trying to figure out how to buy the standard edition while on the $1 game pass trial. Buy as gift option?

EDIT: Ah, found it, have to click on the part where it says "included with game pass" for additional options.

So, to get this deal I just sign up for xbox game pass trial (I assume I do not need a physical xbox, right?), then get the game and cancel the trial immediately?

I don't see why that wouldn't work. I'm using the trial myself and I can see it just fine.

This deal was timely for me; I had a 3-month gamepass trial that ended yesterday, then this sale happens today. I probably should have bought the best buy version to save a few bucks, but I did the $1 trial to get one more month and try a few more games. As soon as you pay for it, and your account shows it, go and turn off recurring payments so you can keep the month-long trial and maybe check out some of the other stuff.
