Since you get 2X on spending, that means the 20K spending points is an additional 40K on top of the 100K sign on bonus

Sign for the Capital One Venture and get 100,000 miles when you spend $20,000 within the first year from card opening.
Even if you don't spend $20,000, you'll get 50,000 miles if you spend $3,000 within the first 3 months.
$95 annual fee; fee is not waived the first year
Card earns 2x points everywhere (the equivalent of 2% everywhere)
Earns 5x on Uber and UberEATS through January 31, 2021
No foreign transaction fees
Visa Signature benefits

Even though it is 12-month, it is still a lot of spending for just 100K points...
That been said, thank you for letting us know the options...The 50K/$3K looks fine.

Nice, but wouldn't be easy to spend that much on the card in the current environment unless I can get the watch I wanted for a while Wink

Don't listen to the haters. This is an excellent deal. To put it in comparable to other deal terms...it's 50K w/ $3,000 spend plus 50K more for another $17,000 spend within 12 months. That's basically 5 total points per dollar on the $17,000 of spend.

My CC is over $3,000/month so this is an excellent deal for me...if not for the fact that this is already my main credit card (see below why I still think it's the best "ongoing" card).

A little secret on the Venture Cards...you can redeem the same travel reimbursement reward multiple times. So, even if you don't travel, there are usually some charges that Capital One considers travel at which point you simply can redeem it as many times as needed to use up your points. I've redeemed the same reward 6 times before and it worked perfectly.

I'll chime in: The offer you really want is the British Airways(Avios)/Chase offer(unless you're a COV miles person): It's basically the same rules but you get Avios instead of Venture miles, much more coveted and travel is based on zones instead of distance(may work out better).

Obviously after the first 3k spend your spend would get much better return simply doing more 3-5k signups on other cards rather than spending another 17k on this card.... but I suppose if you've already churned through EVERY other offer out there this is better than nothing.

You have a great point but counted by the fact that many credit cards are coming up with rules such as 5/24 or only one bonus in 48 months, or lifetime bonus, etc. I guess I could counter argue that for this purpose alone, it is better to target a card with a very high bonus so that you don't exhaust your "quota" of lifetime bonus, or limited bonus in certain period etc.

But, I clearly understand and respect the point you raised.

Reason I asked is after applying I was told by customer care that first year fee would be waived as it was not charged... But I don't have it written anywhere...

So those who applied did the annual fee get applied after activation?
