With the REL being designed for home theater setups, does that mean if I wanted to use it for music it would be too muddy like some other Subs not specifically designed for music?

i would say no as well. rel is more refined than some others that, as you have said, designed for boom and bang.
Is there a set of comparable quality new speakers you recommend (I realize that's subjective)? It would need to be this price or better. I'm starting a home theater setup (that would also be good for music) but don't want to spend more than $1000 on speakers. I live in a rural location so there is not a good market for used speakers.

No they won't post anything, those losers just like to make that useless fake post again and again 🙄
They will make some lame excuse why they can't post a better deal which is BS, for the money you get a lot of bang for your buck with these packaged deals.
Now "better quality" is a completely different question and something only each person can answer for themselves by listening.
The great thing about these deals popping up often and Adorama having a decent return policy, one can give it a shot and if you don't like it just return it.
Big benefit to you being in a rural area and since 90% of what's available you can't walk in and listen! 👍🏻
If you are a Costco member just wait for a sale on the Yamaha or buy refurb from ac4l.
Klipsch is pretty efficient, unless you listen at extraordinary high levels you don't need a lot of power to run them.
I'm looking for a setup for my bedroom so if anyone has a recommendation for a better bang for buck deal, I'd really love to be pointed in that direction.
