The LG is better than the 7 series $850 Samsung in everything except except in a fully dark room. This 9 series $1000 Samsung is better than the LG. Check out rtings.com

This TV is JUNK! My hdmi ports went bad a few weeks after the 90 days. It took me 3 months to finally get a refund from Samsung. Samsung quality has turned to crap.

From RTINGS Comparison: The Samsung RU9000 is much better than the LG UN8500, but they have different panel types. The Samsung has a VA panel, resulting in deeper blacks. It also gets brighter in SDR, displays a wide color gamut for HDR content, has much better uniformity, and VRR support. However, the LG has an IPS panel with wider viewing angles, and it supports 4k @ 120Hz.
