I've been watching this preorder for a while, since I missed out on the Best Buy box set. They were previously not allowing pre-orders from the US, but now they are. Also, while the set is listed as £399, after adding to your cart and selecting your address, the price drops to £333.32.

SET CONTAINS:
  • All 23 MCU films from the unprecedented Infinity Saga on 4K ULTRA HD & BLU-RAY disc (46 discs).
  • Each film's discs are housed within 23 individual twin tray digipack cases

So I see the American version of this set, released I guess about a year ago, goes for like $1,200 currently. It looks like this is the exact same set, re-released for Europe, with the only exception being it's not numbered. Everything else is exactly the same. Does this seem accurate? Not sure why someone would pay $1,200 for something where the only difference is a little printed number. Also seems kinda like a money grab saying they aren't making any more after the initial run, then producing the exact same thing except without a number on it.

November 2nd release date? Sounds like an attempt at foreign interference in the November 3rd elections.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who votes early.

Anyways, back to this deal, no way I'm paying $400+ for this box set.

So the US version from BB did sell out and never came back in stock and recently this edition will now ship to the US. It was restricted shipping for the last 5 months or so. This will sell out on the UK site too I think so I wouldnt pass it up if you want it.

Unless people care about the packaging, it seems it would be cheaper to buy these through DMC with a buy 1 get 50-60% off offer. That would work out to about $15 each. As nice as HDR and Atmos are, I can't see enough difference from the Blurays to justify more than $10 each.

Indeed! And, yes, the set will just disappear like magic on November 3. LOL

With current exchange rate it's about US$430 shipped. Too rich for my blood, especially since I already have about half of the movies in 4K.

Purely for completist collectors IMO.

Or maybe folks who have none of them and mostly watch 4K ... Aka me?

Being numbered gives an artificial scarcity. Yah it is pretty scummy but the movie biz is scummy unfortunately. I used to collect movies but realized since they keep coming out with new formats (betamax, vhs, laserdisc, dvd, bluray, 4k bluray, upcoming 8k) it is not worth it anymore.

atmos, HDR, and 4k is the main reason to buy these. sure, if you can't take advantage of it, then just buy the regular blu rays. but those with the right setups can see a huge difference.

I'm not disputing that Atmos and HDR make a big difference (I have a setup that can use it), but Bluray vs. 4K alone I can barely see the difference in resolution. Disney sadly has a tendency to make their Atmos soundtracks at a lower volume than their DTS-HD 7.1 ones (it is mentioned in numerous reviews on Blu-ray dot com) which diminishes the value slightly. I said I couldn't justify more than $10 each for a Bluray to 4K upgrade, but I'll grab the rest if they ever hit that price. If not, my Blurays will suffice.

Bluray aka 1080p vs 4k can make a huge difference on larger screens (55 inch+) just a FYI. What is your setup?

4K projector with 4K Bluray player on a 116" screen. I honestly have trouble seeing the difference between 1080p vs. 4K resolution. The HDR makes a big difference though, as does Atmos sound. Basically I would never upgrade a movie just for 1080p to 4K resolution, but if I also gain good HDR and Atmos sound, then I'll do it when the price is right.
