Even if the new chips are only marginally better, you'll still see an MSRP drop that will make this deal pretty common place. Either way though there just isn't any reason not to wait the whopping 2 days for the Ryzen showcase if your looking at a Ryzen build.

Wait a week. This should be $250 or $230 real soon.
thats what people said about the 3900x. If the new ones dont blow away these models at a much lower price the old models will stay up in price. Just like how the XT models didnt change anything.

I don't think your post is bad. For now it's decent, however it's only a matter of time when the 3000 series drops. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are right around the corner. Keep posting though! I love reading good posts and it's too bad there isn't enough appreciation for this one right now. I'll Up you!
He does seem a bit misguided but let's be honest what "slick" deals have you seen on here recently? 99% of deals on here are just "good or good enough for now" deals. If they couldn't post average deals this place wouldn't exist.
You are right. I just miss the old days. I'm fighting an uphill battle here. It's not worth the time.
While I agree that you should wait the the 5700x (or equivalent) will cost at least $100 more than this So 25% cost increase for ~15% performance increase and zen2 chips will not plummet in price. Just look at ebay. Zen+ chips are still selling for close to the same price they were before zen2 came out. Prices will drop a bit but I would expect Zen+ and Zen to take the biggest his in price.
So if I'm building over the next few months (looking for best deals) and looking for this processor, would this be good to buy now, or wait a week or more?

wait for zen 3 announcement/launch. if you can wait longer, wait for independent benchmark testing as well.
if the ampere launch is any indication, you may not even be able to get a zen 3 chip at launch. however, many people will wait it out, leaving zen 2 chips sitting on shelves. this may drive down the price (if not the holiday sales). you may even be able to score a good deal on the used market, if you're okay with that.
of course, this is all an educated guess, so take it with a grain of salt. i believe the general consensus, however, is to wait a bit.

8 cores and 16 threads is no joke, and it's not overpriced like intel
