Better off, if you have costco membership, to get the electric bike for $299(when it pops up). If the battery dies, you can still pedal.

Got this a long time ago, battery lasted less than 1 year. Bought replacement battery that arrived damaged/unusable and currently awaiting a refund, customer service is VERY slow. I would stick with Xiaomi or Segway which have more reliable after market parts.

Any of these scooters not nerfed to California 15mph laws? I want one that does at least 20mph.

Bought one of these last year and wanted to like it, had a minor issue and the customer service was non-existent (called and e-mailed and no response) so I decided to return it before other issues popped up.

No. It's a bike AND a scooter, the best of both worlds. You don't want to bike, use the scooter mode....battery dead? You're not stuck...just pedal!

Gotrax sucks - highly recommend avoiding this brand.

Their scooters are cheap, disposable crap and like another poster said, their support is non-existent. Be prepared to buy a new one after a year.

There are other brands in the $400-500 range that offer much better durability and support.

I must agree. Go for the tried and true brands. Last year I bought a Xiaomi m365 for my kids. When the Walmart Hover Pioneer could be had for $99 I bough 3 more (1 for each kid and the Xiami for me). 2 of the 3 Hover's have cracked at the post and the other's throttle failed after the 90 warranty. Fixed the throttle but the other 2 are unfixable and the 3rd is looking like it is starting to crack as well. The Xiaomi is 100% fine even after me taking a nasty fall going downhill on it.
Stay away from these 3rd party brands.

How much did you ride it? This is definitely a weekend "toy" and not a commuter scooter. Would probably avoid altogether, but I understand people not wanting to go up to $400-$500 range. But you must if you're really going to use it for any sort of commute.

I have one of these and have owned it for about 2 months. Got it for under $200 at walmart via a price match, frys or someone (can't remember who) had it clearanced and sold out but luckily they bit on the price match.

I wanted to try the concept of scooting to work (a bit over a mile) and thought low cost of entry would be helpful in case I'm ultimately not happy with it. Since I got it for so cheap I opted for the walmart warranty @ $30.

I enjoy it for what it is. VERY no frills. Goes as fast as I'd need it to go. Acceleration could be a little better but I don't need more than what I get. Battery life is definitely the weak link. I charge it once or twice a week with a 3 mile round trip commute. I'm not sure I'd trust it for a 8 mile commute or something crazy like that.. the battery gauge just doesn't feel dialed in so I don't have a degree of confidence in it once it gets to 2 bars remaining.

Again, this is a dirt cheap scooter and good enough. At $250 MSRP if you are already sold on the concept I'd spend up a bit to get the xiaomi or something nicer. If you need a lowest possible cost of entry and go short distances this is a good buy.

Rode it about 3 weeks totally so I'd estimate 15-20 miles total.
