A customer buys a TV and discovers it has bad DSE, blooming, banding (oled) and returns it to the store.
The store sends it back
Someone at the return center inspects it for cracks and checks to see if it turns on,
Then they get a 22 year old college kid to pack it up in the box.
Then it is sold online.
If you think they have a 200K TV engineer to replace the panel or electronics...you are fooling yourself.
Refurbished TV are rejected TV. Period. Just like buying a refurbished projector..same thing.
Now, if you bought a Canon refurbished SLR camera it will be pure mint condition. In fact so mint it looks new. That is with Canon directly. I always do that since I get a new SLR for the price of refurbished. Or I bought a refurbished bissell steam carpet cleaner from bissell. Now you think you might see some left over hairs on the roller brush or dirt in the tank. No way. The unit was so clean I could drink beer out of the receiving dirty water tank. The roller brush was so new I could lick the bristles.
But a TV...same goes for open box at Best Buy. No thanks
Walmart use to be big on selling refurbished TV. The reviews of the condition of the tv was horrible.
This is my view. You work hard all your life. Get the TV you really want. You waste your money spending 50-70 bucks on drinks for a girl that wont go home with you or split a $500 bottle of vodka for table service. Or spend 30 bucks on HDMI cable at best buy you can get on amazon for 3 bucks.
Today is your lucky day as it is well over $800.
Based on my research a 65 inch oled tv of this vintage goes for around $1200-1300. Good deal if this is what you're looking for, however this model is getting on 3 years old now... It's about what I would expect to pay for a used tv. And also who did the refurbishing?

It doesn't seem to come with any warranty (even though its refurbished)...seems risky for a 2018. OLED prices are estimated to come down over the next year or two thanks to miniLED and other competition.

Yep plus Vizio just released their 2020 OLED tv too. Of course just like plasma, and LED the prices will come down but it may take a while... Currently though this is a fair price for what you're getting

Anyone know if you could boost this w a credit card warranty?

That'd make sense, as most refurbs are 90 days. Does anyone know, can you add 2 yrs warranty onto this w a costco credit card?
It comes with a 90 day warranty
Almost...

No, you're correct. 90 days, which is pretty standard for a refurb.
