This was $349 some time ago but it shot back up to $500, now back down to $399, still a decent deal for the specs imo

Ugh I wish this wasn't an Acer. I had one years ago and had a horrible experience. The laptop lasted me maybe a year before it just quit and I had to replace it. Makes me afraid/nervous to give them another chance.

the screen is about as good as it gets for this price range. i think this is 250 or 300nits, it's been fine using it indoors. the colors doesn't suck either. it's not a dell xps 15, but it's usable.

this is a rather speedy laptop for the price though. very happy with it over all. I got this for my mom, and it feels like a gross overkill for what she uses it for.

It's i7 and not i5. But still debating to ditch thinkpad E series after 4 years or keep on using. It's all good but it slows down a little if I compile code of a page or open 10-20 tabs of chrome. But more than that, this ducking thinkpad is a heavy mofo. but then dropped it once from car boot and once slipped on sidewalk where laptop was sandwiched between concrete and a 200lb person. Just 1mm dead spots on 2-3 places on screen but still going strong.

Oh sorry. But one thing I do know. Intel up until the 7th gen the difference between the i5 and i7 isn't much. Once 8th came along suddenly there was a big difference. The only advantage of i7 was laptop makers had the better parts with the i7 often times including touch screens etc. but 2-7th gen i5 to i7 isn't a big leap scale in performance. Often times you were better off with the i5

yea, i read that i7-7th gen and i5-8th gen was at par. but then debating on lot of things, to move to mac or linux or windows. or to go with 13 inch light weight or 15 inch. or maybe wait to get a job and then company would provide some heavy shit for being a developer.

I've owned three, and all of them have been awesome. One is 10+ yrs and still decent with HD upgrade
