S5 max for sure. This has the additional camera in the front to recognize objects lying on the floor and avoid them before bumping on to them (avoids even socks n small items) but it just is not optimal cleaning according to me if you have too much stuff lying on the floor.

I had S5Max and bought the S6maxV a month ago. s6maxv blows the older model away. Bigger tank for mopping. Quieter. More suction. Avoids dog crap and socks and shoes. Been a lifesaver. For 599, this is a steal.

Both have the same size water tank, S5 max has less reported and measured suction

I would not forget the day when I stayed late at work...
And my dog couldn't hold it...
And my robot rock had a schedule to clean...

That's actually not true. 290 ml for 5. 300 for 6. Not double size. But 6 is bigger.

I've got to assume you don't have little kids. I swear I have to tell the family 20 times a day to pickup your shit or the vacuum monster is going to eat it. But of course, I work from home and have to do the final pickup no matter what. So this is why I need obstacle avoidance.

I do. Same boat as you. I end up helping with the decluttering.
