FYI I had to return mine because it kept erroring out on a medium pile carpet. I have a roborock S5 that works fine.

The S4 is absolutely designed for carpet, but some have reported trouble with really thick carpet (not necessarily deep, but thick). I don't know why the S5 performance would be different from the S4. They are identical in terms of power, suction, and battery. The S5 adds a mopping feature and a larger dustbin.

this is the best vac to get if you have no carpet, otherwise i would get the s5. the mop is basically like dragging a wet rag on the floor, we dont use it at all.

how's the suctioning on this compared to the s5 or s6? Need this for all hardwood floors, no carpet.

They have the same power, so they have the same suction but a youtuber testing the suction of all three actually found the S4 to be slightly stronger in suction to the S6.
