I think I can sell my iPhone 11 (128g) on eBay after fees for $500 and then buy an iPhone 8 used on eBay for $150, trade in the iPhone 8 for $800 credit, pay $6.64x30 for the iPhone 12 pro (up front will be $200).
$500-$150= $350
$350-200= $150
I actually make $150 but with activation and taxes, probably break even.

Wife just traded in her 7 Max last month for an 11 pro Max, it was a $700 credit, sent the phone back 2 weeks ago and still waiting for credit. Status shows it was accepted and processed today, but last step is the actual credit going on the account. Not sure how long that takes.
Also, the trade in showed $80 for her phone but the ATT rep told me to ignore it, on the account it was listed as $700. Let's hope he knows what he's talking about.

I almost pulled the trigger on TMO's free iPhone 11 deal over the weekend because ATT wouldn't give me the same deal they were offering to new customers, even called in and they said "no." I have 6 lines, phones all paid for (2x iPhone X, 2x iPhone 8, 2x iPhone 6s) with them and the guy said "Sorry, guess you're switching huh?" Glad I waited because now I can get new iPhone 12 for free as an existing customer. Don't really want to go to TMO and Verizon is too expense.
