Let's hope Costco matches and the iPhone 7 or even the 6s are eligible

Yeah, I can see T-mobile scheming now on the terms:
Add 3 lines of Magenta only, requires 36 months of bill credits, trade-in iPhone X or higher and one major organ ...

Good condition iPhone 8 is still in the $200+ range. You are basically tying yourself to a 30 month contract for a saving of little over a $100.
i was calculating thus:

- buy an iPhone 8 for$200 odd
- trade it in for $415
- also get the $200 loyalty credit

Granted I'm tied up for 30 months (still waiting for costco!). But am i not getting a $415 discount?

One of the terms is that the device had to be on the T-Mobile network sometime between august 2020-October 2020. Who knows how strict they will be regarding that

Factor in the cost of phone service for 30 months. Then it's like the discount is barely there. But that also depends on how much you are currently paying for your phone service. For me this is pretty much like buying it full retail price since my monthly service bill is so low.

I'm guessing you didn't read the terms of the loyalty credit. Most people don't qualify for that offer.

Just be careful on the underwriting of these lease agreements, I went in on 2 iPhone 11's "on US" with Sprint -- which meant that you flex lease the phone and they give you 100% of the payment back, so for the first 18 months you have the phone "free"... BUT looking at the details of the agreement, AFTER 18 months you have 3 options: Buy it outright for $174.93, buy it for 6 monthly payments of $29.16, or continue leasing month to month and pay $29.17.

So remember when they say that you are getting monthly credits or $500 or whatever over monthly credits, they are basically saving they are giving you that amount to LEASE the phone. You will not own the phone and your trade in goes towards the lease. At the end you can BUY the phone to own, but don't be surprised if there's a balance up to about 25% of the phone's value. If you want to turn it in at that time, sure you got the phone to USE for free for the 18 months, but have no equity at the end. The smartest option is to BUY the phone at the end of the lease, albeit there is a sticker shock ex. The "FREE on US" iPhone 11's will cost us $174.93 each, which is a lot better than retail price, but we did have to pay a line for 18 months to Sprint to get this, and $175 isn't exactly free right but we get the equity of keeping the phone. The dumbest final option is to continue to lease the phone at full price. The 30 month payment to own is different as you get the phone at the end of the payments, but that is not eligible for the promotional credits.

Long story short, these "$ OFF" are not REBATES anymore, they are CREDITS towards a LEASE. It's the scammy new age of 2 year contracts again -- this time tied to your phone rather than your plan. But you stop your plan early you lose all your future credits and have to pay the full price of the phone. So they get you both ways.
What is offered now is not FlexLease, it is installment purchase plan, but unfortunately for 30 months. After 30 months it is paid off and you own it.

I wasn't seeing the $200 loyalty credit, checked my billing history and it only went back to 2018. I called CS and let them know that I've on Tmobile since 2008 and they had no records of my past history. The lady said somebody may have closed it when we switched to the magenta plan in 2018 and there was nothing she could do. If your not getting the loyalty discount check your account history. This is not a deal for me without that credit.
Ugh mine isn't working either. Customer service has not been helpful, they are confused all around.

Can someone let me know if the following will work? Or the best alternative approach?

I don't have an iphone to trade in, but am a 5+ year t- mobile customer. (Have an old Samsung to trade in.)

1. Order an iPhone 12 from t- mobile as an upgrade to one of my lines. (If i try doing that on the line that has a Samsung, it asks me for a full price)
2. buy a used iPhone 8 from swappa or some place where it's verified.
3. use the iPhone 8 to trade in.

Do i need to do #3 first and

#4 attach it to my line before i can do #1?

Our Does the iphone traded in have to be in the account between Aug and Oct 2020?

Thanks in advance!
There is a requirement that the trade in phone for the $200 has to have been on your account before now. That's the only snag in your plan.

You don't own the iPhone outright for unlock purpose. You are making monthly payment on it while you get bill credit to offset it. It take at least 24-30 months+ to pay it off. You also lock in with T-Mobile for next 2 years, If you cancel your service, you lose all the remaining credits ... I wonder if that extra $300~ is worth all these hassles instead of just trading your iPhone to a third party or Apple.

I'm on a t- mobile simple choice plan that is the cheapest i can find anywhere for 5 lines. I'll still be on it for 30 months unless someone comes up with something radical. Haven't seen prices going down anywhere.

The 30 months service is s given, so not sure why i should factor it in

I doubt the deal will be for the pro but the regular iphone 12. Too good to be true.
It is for the Pro and pro max.

Sorry it looks like Sprint still is, we're merging conversations into T-Mobile but I think the plans and financing are still discrete

I can't answer on the attaching it to the line. But you definitely need to have the IMEI of the device you're trading in when you place the order.

You are allowed to unlock the phone after 40 days on network.
You have to pay off the balance of the EIP, but you will continue to receive the promo bill credits through the rest of the 30 months.

T-Mobile customer here. I've not been with them quite 5 years yet. I've got an iPhone XS Max. How do I go about upgrading to the 12 Pro and getting this deal? I feel like its confusing on purpose. ...or am I retarded?
It's really simple. You just pre-order and it will ask you for the info on the device you're trading in when you're pre-ordering. Then you'll have 30 days to send the Max in after they ship the new device. They send you the mailing label.
