If you are not a heavy data user, say less than 3GB monthly, major savings are available. I was with Verizon and all the costs just kept adding up. Monthly fee, line fee, 911, taxes, regulatory, on and on....

Is Xfinity right for everyone, no. Is it right for savers who don't use a phone constantly for streaming, for video, for online gaming, for regular Google mapping; yes it is.

My monthly bill is between $16 and $28, just depends on data usage. Locations I had a problem with Verizon service are the same locations I have problems with Xfinity, but those are very, very few.

My Verizon bill, no matter what was around 60 per line. Don't need to pay all that money to pad someone else's pockets.

Look at your monthly data avg., to see what makes cents and dollars.

Thanks. Is it because xfinity phone doesn't take SIM card?
They have sim card but by your question it is a no cause you have to fullfil their term before you get it unlocked.

My friend works for Comcast and they use a combonation of wifi hot spots which most customers have in their internet modem with a bulit in public guest wifi option. (you can shut if off but is on already. Comcast also uses Verizon's network with performance very similar. If you're happy with Verizon then be cautious about switching because Verizon mobile is known for much better customer service compare to Xfinity/Comcast.

yea, def knew they used the hotspots... and in most cities, think alot of people have that service (toggled on), on their rental router.

i really don't care about customer service. if the service is working, I have no reason to call to complain...

for someone that has been a verizon subscriber for the last 20 years, and happy with their service, what are the pros and cons switching to Xfinity mobile? I understand they use the same vzw towers? So thinking speeds and reception should be the same?

Curious to know if anyone from vzw switched to here, and their thoughts.
I was a long time Sprint customer before but switched to Xfinity Mobile. The pros is their plan is dirt cheap compare to other providers starting from $15 for 1GB data that can be shared up to 5 members. The plan goes up to $30 and $60 for 3GB and 10GB respectively or unlimited at $45. I personally have 3 phones connected to1 GB data plan. YMMV. All of us rarely use data plan nowadays since everyone work from home. Xfinity also have thousand of Wi-Fi hotspots around my area which automatically connect when we were outside. The caveat is you need to be a Xfinity customer to get the best rate otherwise you are going to pay additional $20 if I'm not mistaken. I have no complaint regarding speeds and reception.

How does the actual unlocking process work? Asking cuz I am thinking of buying the phone and sending it to a friend overseas while I pay for 2-3 months service and then request the unlock.. Hoping when they unlock it won't matter if the phone is overseas

I have always been with comcast, one of the best deals they offered was 2 years ago where you could get a brand new ipad wifi only for $5.00 per month over 24 months. They sometimes run great deals, but haven't seen one like that in a while. Guess it helps when you live where they are head quartered.

Expect them to be PIA about it AND most importantly if you sell it before unlocking next owner won't be able to unlock without using some kind of shady service since xfinity only unlocks to original buyer only so even if it's paid off in full they will deny unlock if it's requested from other than original purchaser account. I fought with them about 8 plus that I bought and used as BYOD when I asked for unlock 3 weeks horror began, I dropped them right away afterwards.

So xfinity locked your BYOD iPhone 8? That means it was unlocked before you joined xfinity. Can xfinity lock and unlocked phone?

Switched 3 years ago to unlimited. It used to be better....no throttling on tethered devices, hd streaming was possible, etc. even though those features are gone on unlimited, we're happy and staying. One major thing better with Verizon was the international options. Xfinity basically doesn't have a plan....it's very expensive to use your xfinity phone anywhere but here, even Mexico.

Just waiting for the day they start adding a $10 fee per line. This is just the best plan ever for families that uses little data, they don't do any of that bs sim and activation fee either.

Nice to see Xfinity Mobile is doing this. I closed my account too early when porting in with Sprint and that made me miss out on a BYOB $100 gift card promo they were running. I have since switched to Visible but only because of price, not satisfaction.

Xfinity Mobile is a good Verizon MVNO. Consistently fast speeds in my area compared to T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. Didn't like the hotspot throttling with Xfinity Mobile - 600kbps is insane, but Visible you are limited to 1 device at a time. I switched to Visible because price was cheaper ($25 all in, if you join a party, as opposed to $48/month) and direct Verizon but there's no telling if they keep all the niceties.

Activation with Xfinity Mobile was a pain, but port out was easy. They give you the PIN and close out your account upon successful port out.

Hopefully Visible does something similar. It's good to hear both are offering 5G too.
How did you get 25 for visible?

I'm in a Party Pay [visible.com] of 4. Party Pay is is a gimmick unique to Visible. It's kind of like "add a line" but you don't have to know the people personally in order to join the party, and everybody pays their bill separately. It's a referral program, but Visible publicly links to a subreddit where you can ask people to join yours, or you can join off of others.

So Visible starts at $40, Party of 2 makes bill $35, 3 makes bill $30, and 4 drops everybody's bill to $25.

The bad thing about it is if anyone leaves, the whole party is disbanded and everybody's bill goes up to $40. Happened to me only once, but I was able to join another before my bill was due.

I said "pay 3 month of $15" because I see a comment in page #1- "So minimum $45 (3 months) unless you can magically get it unlocked on the 60th day"
and another comment in page #3 - "They have 2 plans, one unlimited at $45 per line and 2nd per gig, $15 for a gig or $30 for 3 gigs"

So is it still not eligible after paying off the phone and 3 month service?

Here is the post from a user above:
"Last December my friend bought iPhone from Xfinity. He thought it will be unlocked once paying off in full. That's true but Xfinity taking full price in 24 installments only (No option to pay full in one installment) & as per them phone cannot be unlocked until that time."

YMMV about them to unlock it for you or not after paying it off.

I see. Thanks. Will we be able to know if it is one payment in full or 24 installments during the time of purchase? or we have to wait till receiving first billing statement to know?
If during the time of purchase, we are allowed to pay it in full, is it safe to say that we can get it unlocked on day 60?

It was locked to xfinity before I bought it online but qualified for their BYOD (bring your OWN device) plan without a problem because it was paid off in full. When I inquired about unlocking the device after few months (meeting their guidelines to request such unlock) they refused saying "only original purchaser can do so" which is total BS against unlocking device guidelines set by FCC I think, in which case as long as device is paid off in full and met wireless company guidelines for unlocking the company is required to follow through on their end.
xfinity guidelines DO NOT mention anything about that only original purchaser can request the unlock (imagine how many people leave them and switch without requesting the unlock beforehand) so all those phones now can only be used on xfinity or traded in (which I'm planning to do).
